BX23 and Cat 0 Implements

I am considering a box blade and landscape rake to redo my lawn. I need to regrade and back fill with yards of material and want to save my back in leveling it all out. Sure, its only 1/2 acre, but still, thats alot to do by hand, plus, I want to use the tractor.

I am looking at the Cat 0 implements Northern Tools carries. I have read the posts that heavier is better for the BB, so was thinking about the Howes over the King Kutter. Are these adequate for the BX, or too light? I was considering the Woods or Kubota blades, but I think they are more than I really want to spend for my project. My understanding is that they run in the $800 dollar range?

FYI, I am only looking for a 4 foot BB, I do not think the BX can handle more in my soil type.

I feel the landscape rake is an item I can skimp on and am looking at the one on sale for 269.00.

4 foot is the most I would pull behind a BX. My 2410 struggles at times with my 5 footer.

The Cat 0 pins are significantly smaller than your Cat 1 hitch. You can undoubtedly mount some Cat 1 pins but will have to drill the holes on the bb out.
I have seen sleeves to enlarge Cat 1 out to Cat 2, but never Cat 0 to Cat 1. If they exist, they would be your best bet.

I have a 405lb box scraper for my BX24 that I've been quite happy with. It is the RBS48 pictured here. It was $700 delivered from my Kubota dealer.

I am in MA and facing the same dillema. What is the deal with the landscape rake? Where can I get one of those for under $300?

I have a 5 ft rear blade for my BX it pulls it fair. For a BB I would stay at 48 in. The biggest problem you will have with the BX is controling the 3 point. The wheel base is short and every little dip or clod of dirt cause the blade to move up and down. I think for the landscape rake you will really need some type of wheels or skid to keep it at an even hight. My rear blade is a land pride. They make a complet set of implements for the BX. I have a cat 0 subsoiler inroute from Northern Tools. Should be here this week. I will let you know how it fits.

Me thinks thou are making a big deal out of nothing. go here and look at the specs for 3 points. web page The lift arm pins are smaller and will fit right in your cat 1 arms. The top link is also smaller so you have to drill out one set of holes no big deal or you can simply put in a smaller pin. Sure there will be some slop/play so what these things ain't precision instruments.

"some slop and play"?? not for long- those cat 1 pins will bend quite nicely once the bb is full of material.
To work properly, the pins need to mate to the hole size in the 3ph.
I have an old Honda 5518 with cat 0 hitch, so I have much experience with what works and what breaks!!!

There are bushings available for Cat 0 pins to Cat 1 arms. Check with any good farm supply or implement dealer.
