So, I was all prepared to detail my trade-in machines...a Bobcat 450, and a Gravely 260Z ZTR for loading and the trip to the dealer for appraisal.....when my guy says " Don't bother, I will send someone right to your house to check them out" Thats great service. The dealer is about 35 miles from my door...same dealer I bought my old B7500 from a few years back (sold it).

Then he goes on to say that they don't have the mid-mount in for the BX23, and asked if it would be OK, if I held onto the ZTR until the mower deck came in....

All i can say is that I hope the numbers come out to the numbers we already pencilled out. I should be able to get the deal hammered to my liking since that is what I do every day as a car dealer.

Tractor Dealer vs. Car Dealer........ what a interesting negotiation this is going to be. I would love to be a fly on the wall when this deal is struck. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think the biggest advantage is being able to recognize a good deal. I don't nitpick over $100-$500. There are a lot of people who go to buy a car and cannot recognize a good deal if it slapped them in the face...they are too worried about getting the shaft....even when it is not warranted.

THAT is where the sales part of salesman comes in,
as a sales person it is your job to get them to believe their
getting a good deal , whether they are or not.

Salesmen of the type mentioned in statement #2 are generally responsible for the customers of the type mentioned in statement #1. Sales perons that value honesty over a quick profit usually get my repeat buisness along with positive referrals.

My philosophy is this:

If you feel you got a good deal....then you did.

Low price is not a requirement to get a good deal.

In my business, it is the ones who pay the most are the ones who feel like they got the best deal.

The shoppers who would drive 200 miles to save $50 are the ones who get the best monetary deals, but are the least satisfied with the whole transaction.

When the car is old and worn out and the buyer still has a payment book, that is when they really realize the true cost. I don't mind the dealer making a profit on the car, but when the dealers finance manager works over the paper work, so they make an extra $1500 - $3000 on the financing, that is where the good deal ends.

SO the saga continues. The BX23 is pre-delivery inspected and ready to go.....and I get the call.....

The offer is 16700 for the BX23 TLB, with mower
6000 for my mower
4000 for my Bobcat

Leaves me at 6700 trade difference.

Not quite good enough....I like the flat round $6000 figure instead. HOWEVER, I think if the deal became 6350 I would arrange for delivery of the new Kubota. *Sigh*......

What do you guys think?

Pay the $6700 as "it is the ones who pay the most are the ones who feel like they got the best deal." Just kidding, sounds like you're getting pretty close and going to be a new BX23 owner soon! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I have a BX22 and love mine.
