When I hauled mine home from the dealer I used a 16' enclosed trailer and I only had inches to spare on the length. So I would say your shelter needs to be at least 16' but a few extra feet would make it much easier to do service on it out of the weather.

I would set the outriggers to the point that they are at the widest and then take that measurement into consideration for the width. That way, you could take the backhoe off and leave it under cover when the tractor is being used for some other task. You should have enough room to walk completely around the tractor comfortably without any obstacles in your way. This is my minimum comfort level for any item I store.

If that is true show us a picture of your garage. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My trailer is 14' by 6'6" and the BX23 just fits for length and there is a little walking space up each side.
The bucket is 48" wide to start with and the BH legs (folded up) stick out a bit further.

A 20' by 12' would give a nice bit of work room to do any service work.

Remember to allow for the hight of the rops so you don't have to fold it down every time.

I keep my BX2200 in the 3rd bay of the garage. I have about 7 implements, each on its own custom built dolly. When changing implements, the cars go out of the garage, so there is plenty of room to roll an implement right up to the 3ph. With a smooth concrete floor, rolling and coupling any implement to the 3ph is very easy this way. I also have an electric hoist hanging from a truss (make sure it can bear the desired load before you hang one). The hoist can be very useful in lifting an implement or engine if necessary; it also makes it easy to lift the MMM in order to remove and sharpen blades or remove built up grass debris from the underside of the deck.

Here are several things you might choose to consider if you're designing a storage shelter. 1) Go with a smooth paved floor so you can roll implement dollies around. 2) Make the building as large as you can afford so that you have room for any future implements you may decide to purchase and so that you can roll them around to the 3ph. 3) Plan to build dollies for all implements (there are several old threads in the TBN archives on implement dollies). 4) Design a lifting beam or truss into your plans from which you can suspend a hoist. 5) Consider planning workbench, counter space, and tool storage around the perimeter walls. 6) What are your needs for electricity and illumination? If you do much tractor maintenance here, you'll need power. If you also want any natural light, will the open doorway suffice? Doors with windows are cheaper than wall windows and sacrifice less wall space for tools, but are easier for a thief to break and enter. Skylights can spare wall space as well, but are more expensive and more problematic to weatherproof. 7) When it comes to placement and orientation of the structure, what considerations are more important to you: prevailing wind and precipitation direction, sunlight, aesthetic coordination with existing house and lot design?

Good luck with your planning. Let us know how things progress. We always like photos.

I bought this (see attachment) 10' X 20' canopy at Costco. A plow is stored in front of the BX23 and next to the plow I built a small platform that stores some fuel, the 3pt hitch and misc stuff. Tie rapped a small piece of peg board on the supports for a bit more storage. It is anchored at the corners with either some chain to concrete or to a tree. The legs each are secured to the ground with 10" galv. spikes(Home Depot). There is a door that I keep rolled up, it is a zippered door, but the ROPs won't fit under it. I don't know if Costco sells them regularly, but the one in by me sold them for $150, which I thought was a pretty good price.
