Tdog: Can you give a URL to the Sam's shelter you bought? Many thanks.

Chugbert,
I did not buy on-line - - just went to the local Sam's [45-50 miles away] & bought off the shelf.
However, it was from the Powell & Powell Co. I checked out their website & don't see my package exactly. I had a 10 x 20 completely enclosed, with a zipper front - - about $200. Here's a link to get you started:

I also checked Sam's on-line. Again, I could not find my Kubota House. I see replacement tarps, but what I see is only similar - - maybe you have to purchase the canopy & sidewall kit separately? It was a complete package when I bought.

Sorry I cannot come any closer.

Hi Chugbert
I saw your picture with the BX and what looks like a cement mixer on the back - could you share a little info on what mixer it is and how well it works. Also where you got it and how much $. I am thinking that a mixer might be in my future for my BX23 and haven't yet seen anybody who has actually has one on a BX. Thanks

Jim...... I saw one of these a couple of days ago and it was as flat as a pancake except for the car inside holding up what was left of it. We had about 3 or 4 inches of wet snow and apparently it didn't fare too well. I was quite surprised that it went down so quickly. I think that it is the type of roof that doesn't shed snow well and it couldn't take the weight.

Chugbert, I don't have the part #, threw the box out a while ago. There were only a few left at the Costco by me, and I don't think they will bring any more in til after Christmas or maybe in the spring. By the pictures it looks identical to the shelter Tdog bought at Sams. The kit came with all the sides and back & zippered front door. I had to roll the front panel up and not use the door because the ROPS would hit if it was only zippered up. Rops didn't catch by much but with it rolled up there is no worry of hitting & doing damage. The unit was called a canopy at Costco, and I paid ~$150. It's in a fairly sheltered location, and we had some pretty strong winds the past couple of weeks, 50mph gusts. Moved a lot of leaves but the canopy stayed put, with almost no movement. Don't know the life expectancy of the unit. I would think in a protected area away from Cat 4&5 hurricanes you should get at least 5 years from it. I'm thinking of spray painting it a camo color so it isn't so noticable.

Tdog: Thanks for the canopy links. They look like the job.

Ken: Thanks for your confirmation that your canopy is similar to Tdogs.

Jim: Yes its a mixer on the back, though its new and has not yet done any mixing. In a few weeks time, when I've poured some fence post holes I'll put the piccies up and give a report under the cement mixer thread. The summary is its an Italian "Sitrex" mixer (sold under half a dozen brands in the US), it has a hydraulic motor added and sits on lift arms that are about 5" longer than standard. Holds 50 gals. Practical max is 40 gals. Static balance seems OK...still had about 300lb weight on the front bucket when mixer was full.

For temporary storage at a location you can always take the snow off if needed they are great.

I have been using one for storing a boat and now my Kubota for the last 5-6 years. I actually have the older model with the smaller tubing and it didn't come with sides or ends. I have purchased ends and use blue tarps for the sides as the 4x6 or 5x7's (can't remember which) do the job.

I live in NY and quite frequently get a fair amount of snow. They are not snow rated and very clearly point that out on the box. What I do to combat that is run ropes 2 per side the longway (for a total 4) and then 6 per side the short way to create a checkered pattern about 2' square for beter support as well as it hold it together better.

Mine is also protected between my house and a row of pine trees so it helps during higher winds. I have had over 1' of snow on it in the past but don't recommend that and I try to make sure I get it off when it gets to 6" or so.

I use a broom with an extension handle and stand on the side and pull it down.

This has worked great for me, but I do expect to get a more permanent structure for my BX in the future as it is kind of a pain to use as I don't have zippered ends and have to undo an end each time I want to plow.

The tarps are holding up very well, but I have the heavy silver ones for the top (original) and the ends (purchased 4 years ago).

Oh I also stake and rope it down so it doesn't fly away /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a 6 bay 22x76 metal pole building.
The 16 x 22 bay is for my BX 23.

*********** ***************

I also have a 30 x 52 4 stall garage. Each stall is 13 x 30
The 2 stalls on the right are a work shop measuring 26 wide by 30 deep.

I can service my BX 23 in either of the 2 buildings.
