BX23 FEL Hydraulic Hose Problem

Upon reattachment of the FEL the red coupler won't lock into place. Is there a trick or do I possibly have bad coupler?

You may have a little pressure on it. If you took it off when it was cool and it is warm now the fluid has expanded.

Wrap a rag around the coupler and use a screwdriver to push the "button" in the middle to bleed off the pressure. Should only be a few drops but use the rag and do NOT get fluid in your eyes.

That worked. Used a nut-driver handle to compress button. It was more than a few drops. Missed my eyes; but, got everything else. Anything that can be done to avoid that build up when disconnecting?

After you remove the FEL but before you disconnect the hoses, wiggle the loader control lever all over to 'relax' the hydraulics and let the FEL settle onto its support legs & buckets.

Basically, what I figure happens is the FEL is in a position where it is being supported by the hydraulics, not the legs. As the FEL settles over time, it pushes on the hydraulics, presurizing them.

Don't forget to turn the engine off to relax the hydraulics.
