BX23 FEL question

Hi all thanks for the feedback on the skid plate, it was a big help. I also got some feedback on my FEL problem. My control lever wont stay in the float position I have to hold it in. From the feedback I got, a few of you say it should stay in the float position does anyone know if this is an adjustment I can do or has anyone had this problem? Makes me sick thinking I have to send her in for service with just 5hrs on her clock!

Your bio is kinda sparse /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. As far as I know the valve probably requires the dealer to take a look at it. If you break it I would not expect him to honor the warranty. It is under warranty--it should be repaired by the dealer. Meanwhile it is not a significant problem so just continue working the machine until service time at 50 hours and then have it dealt with. J

Are you sure you are pushing hard enough to go into the float detent position? Sometimes the detent position it very tight and requires a good sharp shove on the handle.

If you remove the boot and cover around the lever base and valve, there are some nuts, etc., that control "centering" on the lever. If you adjust things so that the lever is properly centered and retighten things, you'll likely get the throw you need to get to the float detent position. This problem is just a mis-adjustment or a situation where things "slipped". (My BX22 had the lever losen up the previous winter and I could not get full motion of the FEL until it was corrected). It's just a physical problem that can be dealt with using a wrench or two!

Hey Jim thanks for the info Im going to give it a try. I called the dealer he told me it was the detent also not a big deal at all. They are going to order me a detent kit, In the meantime I will try to adjust it myself. Thanks.

I agree it sounds like a simple detent problem.

Are you sure the dealer won't come out to your place to do the work? I see this practice mentioned quite often here on TBN. I have 90 hours on my BX23, and in the early days I made a few calls to the dealer to ask questions. Typically I just wanted to know if I was doing something correctly, or perhaps how to make a minor adjustment. Every time, next thing I new somebody was coming up the driveway to look it over and/or make some minor tweak.

They did finally have to take it away a couple of weeks ago to replace a "sticky" feedback rod and pin on the 3ph hydraulics, but that was because they had to remove the right fender and fuel tank to replace a $2 part! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Some dealers do service work on-site; some do not. My original dealer did not, for the most part and charged a fee if the machine needed to be picked up for anything other than strictly warranty work. My current dealer does on-site service almost exclusively...they even have a special truck that the tech rides around it. It's easy to get an appointment as they generally try to schedule him to be in a particular area on each day of the week for efficiency.

Hey Jim and Rimmer. my dealer is coming to pick it up and return it the same day. no charge. You cant beat that. I offered to let them fix it here. I have a fully stocked garage they want to bring it it in. I guess they charge Kubota for the transportation. Thanks for all your help Bucks county here, Point Pleasant just north of New Hope.

Dealer in Doylestown picks up. Dealer in Titusville does on-site. I don't know what the folks up in Pipersville do.
