While moving firewood today with the BX23, (70 hours) I had the misfortune of driving a 2" diameter stick through one of the rear tires. Scared the S@#$ out of me when all the calcium came squirting out as the tire rotated. I don't think it is repairable. It's got a jagged hole that is 1.25" long on 2 sides.) Can you buy BX23 Bar tires on the Internet? If so... what is the going rate? Thanks

There are a lot tires on ebay. At least that would get you an idea.

It would probably be cheaper to go to the dealer and see if he has one in stock. That way, you will still have a matched pair and he can fill the calcium at the same time. My guess is about $75 for the tire. I don't know if it is still done, but about ten years ago, I did the same thing with a new tire on my plow truck. I took it to a truck tire repair shop and they sent it out to be vulcanized shut. The tire never leaked and was good as new, except for the lump showing on the side where they repaired it. Cost about $20 back then.

Another alternative might be getting the tires foam filled if the one with the hole could be patched long enough to hold pressure while the foam cures.

Last summer I was quoted about $110 per rear tire to foam fill the rear bar tires on my BX. I elected to use liquid, but foam would have been heavier and more durable.

Maybe if you figure in the price of a replacement tire, if you routinely run in areas were punctures are likely, in the long run it might make sense to foam fill and forget about punctures. All dependent on the price of a replacement tire and your expected probability of punctures.

I did get my front tires foam filled for $38 each, and am quite satisfied with the results.

I am certain that a large patch could be put on the cut unless it has a piece of tire missing. I wonder if they could install a tube and then foam fill the tire? That way, if he ever wanted to put new tires on, there would be no foam to clean away from the rim.

this is one of the reasons i got a set of turfs and bars.
in the fall i had 20 yards of gravel delivered at a friends house and we only had the weekend to do what we planned.

that saturday after lunch i put a hole in the front bar tire. thank god i brought a spare turf w/me. we would have been screwed otherwise.

maybe now is the time to get an extra set so you do not experience any down time in the future.

Well.... My closest Kubota dealer was closed today so I called another one. You would swear that I was the first guy to get a flat tire by the way I had to struggle to get an answer out of them as to what it would cost me to get this fixed. The best I can figure..... 95 for the tire, 30 for WW fluid (I want calcium) and about 25 to 50 labor to mount the tire. (I already have the wheel off the BX23 and in the back of the truck) I'll call my local dealer in the morning. Also.... I called the 1-800 number on the side of the tire. They put me in touch with another company in my area that wanted me to buy 2 new tires from them (thier brand) instead of buying 1 new Bota tire. Now a question.... from your experience, what does a new set of tires and wheels cost? More later.....

A set of four bar tires/wheels for my BX cost me $298 a year ago... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

$25 - $50 to mount a tire?????? Are they for real???? Any tire shop would charge you no more than $10 for a 5 minute job. Call Ronnie at www.tractorsmart.com and ask him what it costs to get a pair of tires shipped on rims? My guess it will be under $200 for the pair. I believe that you are headed down the wrong road. Try a regular independent tire dealer and they should be able to help you. The chain tire stores haven't a clue as to what to do with a tractor tire. I still like Henro's suggestion of having it foamed. Any tractor dealer could probably recommend a place that will foam the tire. Hopefully your local Kubota dealer won't treat you like you just fell off the turnip truck and try to take advantage of you.

did you put a hole in a turf or bar tire.

if a turf tire maybe now is the time to get the bars.

a set of bars on rims cost me $280.00 from the dealer.

then you have time to shop the other around and fix it for a reasonable price.
