Since I have no welding equipment or skills I am thinking of making a skid plate from plywood, perhaps with a layer of sheet metal for added protection. I would use it only when the MMM is off and I am using the FEL. With this in mind, can you please provide a sketch of your design? I can pm you my home address.
Hey, Hey, no pm'ing here. I would like to have a scetch as well. I don't feel like spending $200 for whhat I might be able to cutt and bolt together for $30 worth of scrap.
I'll post some measurments afterwhile once I get home & caught up.
Basically I just used what I had laying around. I didn't want it to be a permanent solution such as some very fine skidplates thats been displayed here and can be purchased, I just wanted something to easily mount up when the MMM is dismounted that would give a little more protection than having nothing at all.
Milkman's is a good solution also. I think the key is utilizing the MMM lift arm pins to make either plate easy on/off.
Here's the measurements of my simple solution. The patent is not pending
The plate is 24 3/4" long x 10 3/4" wide. You can go wider by atleast 3 more inches if not more to get better coverage.
The rear hooks are 7" pieces bent into a Z shape. The bottom is 2", the rise is 2" and the hook is 3".
The main support bracket started out 24 1/2" long and the ends were measured back approx 4 1/4" then bent up 90 degrees. The key is to have around 15 3/4" inbetween the bends. The pin holes are 11/16".
The bracket at the front is approx 4" long which is enough to keep the plate tight.
I've not tested it in the rough yet so use at your own risk
What procedure is used to remove the propeller shaft on the BX2350? The HST cooling fan needs replacing. What is the purpose of the ball and spring couplers at each end of the shaft?
