Installed my 60"MMM this weekend for the first time and found out the cutting height knob is incorrect. I wanted the blade height at 3.0" and this turned out to be a setting of 1.0" on the selector. Can I remove the black selector knob and reinstall to show proper height? Any ideas on how to get the black selector knob off or fix this problem?

Thanks.

You canfix this by making anadjustment at the mower lift points. The procedure for doing this is in the manual for the mower. The adjustments will make it match the knob, or fairly close, anyway. I don't believe you adjust the knob itself.

New BX 23 to replace to 2200?
I did the same thing. You will be glad you did.

If this is first install of MMM, should be perfect from the dealer.
Suggest you get your dealer to properly adjust and level the mower deck.

The black handle simply pulls off. It will only fit one way.
There are no adjustments to the selector knob.

Being off by 2 inches sounds like something is wrong. You cannot adjust 2 inches in the lift arms. Is something catching or binding with the selector knob, MMM or 3 point hitch arms?
Try to raise the mower completely, then turn the dial to the 3 position. Now lower the mower til it stops and take your measurements. If you make any adjustments to the lift arms, be sure to level the deck by adjusting the front attachment as well. Ideally, the front tip blade should be 1/4 inch lower than the rear tips of side blades.

Off by 2 inches sounds like something more than an adjustment to me.

I removed the MMM and looked a little closer at the knob. The selector knob is attached to a rod and at the end of the rod is a circular piece with steps in it. Kind of like a circular stair step. When I turn the knob all the way clockwise the lift arms come all the way down or what I think would be the minimum height. When I turn the knob counter clockwise the lift arms stay up (TOP Position). At least I think that's the way it worked, I might be backwards on CW and CCW directions.

So it appears to me the black knob was installed incorrectly.
Does this make sense to anyone?

Thanks.

teachdocs - Yes, I do enjoy the BX23! I should've bought the BX22 first time around.

When trading my BX2200, I kept my old 60" MMM to use on the BX23. The mower was in excellent condition and it didn't make sense to buy new one. Therefore the dealer didn't make any adjustments regarding the mower deck.

There is no binding in the lift arms or 3pt. arms. I adjusted the left side lift arm to level/balance the mower. I can change the height settings in 0.5" increments. Only problem is the black selector knob is not accurate/correct.

My black plastic knob must be super glued on! I can't pull it off to save my life.

Thanks

Anyone know if the MMM on a new BX 2200 is the same as a new one on a BX 23?
Recently had problems with clearance for a skidplate on a BX23 that fits a Bx2200 just fine.

Spray some penetrating fluid like WD40 on the knob, then pull it straight off.

BX2230 with 60" MMM. Mine is off one inch. All adjustments are correct per the book. I think this is a function of turf vs ag tires. I have the turf and they look to have a lower profile than the ag.

When I mounted mine for the 1st time it was off quite a bit also. There is quite a bit if adjustment that can be done. More than you may think. I don't recall how much mine was off but it was definitely over an inch. I had to adj the right side about 5 more turns than the left side to get it plumb.

I don't believe theres any adj on the the knob itself. All the adj's are on the two rear lift links and the front bracket.

Good luck

Did you get the knob pulled off?
I just had mine off a couple days ago when removing the riding deck platform.
It has a flat side to the shaft/knob, so it should fit only one way.

I sprayed it with penetrating oil last night. I'll give it a try this evening.

Thanks for everyone's reply. To summarize, my mower works great! It raises and lowers fine. I can change the height in 0.5" increments. The only problem is the little arrow is not pointing to the correct number on the black dial. I'm not losing any sleep over it, just wanted to know if there is an easy fix.

Again thanks...
