I always used pretty much the same procedure. But when it comes to moving the deck around along the floor I just slide a floor jack under one end and wheel it around. As long as your on concrete this works very well......Gravel not so well..... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

>You need to take the BH off with either type of mower.

No you don't. I've been mowing with the backhoe on my bx-22 for 2 years now. Taking it off is just a hassle. The only time I take off the backhoe is when I want to attach the tiller (which is rare). The extra weight has caused no problems (no ruts in the yard). You just need to think about it being back there when you back up so you don't hit something with it. As long as you don't try to set the mowing depth below 2", the 3ph arms don't hit anything.

Remove BH and FEL, but first use the FEL hooks (you do have hooks right) to move the MMM to where you are going to mount it. I dont carry it anymore, to heavy. Once the MMM is out where I will park to install it, I take off the attachments and my tractor is now a lawn mower. Each one takes about 6 to 8 minutes to remove and reinstall.

Mowing with the backhoe installed is like taking a shower with your clothes on. Sure you can do it, but why would you. It limits the amount that the deck can drop, and it makes it more cumbersome to mow. Guess that some people just have to do exactly what the manufacturer of the product says not to do, just to say that it can be done. I bet that you even push snow and till dirt with the mower deck on just because you can. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Junkman, Naah, nothing that crazy. I just find it takes too much time and effort to take the backhoe on and off. Playing with all the controls for 10 minutes to get everything lined up just right to put it back on just takes more patience than I have on a weekly basis. Once every few months is tolerable, but not every week to mow.

hey wait a minute, I did till dirt with the mower deck on. Does that qualify as crazy? It never got in the way...

Nah..... not crazy /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif.... just differant.... Should the tiller kick up a monster rock the mower deck will just act as a plow on the next pass around and push it out of the way. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi there. This is my first post, been readin' for a while tho.

I use to hate to R&R the MMM on my 23; rotating the antiscalp wheels and then trying to remember which hole they were set to was a real pain.

I went to Home Depot and got 4 of the little 3 wheeled appliance dollies. I pull the tractor into the garage, pop the dollies under the antiscalp wheels, lower the deck, disconnect the deck and viola, 3 minutes later the deck is off and out from under the tractor. I takes, maybe, 5 minutes to put it back on. Plus you can move the deck around the garage much easier.

So, maybe I need to re-read the posts, but I still have a question or two:
1. Does the backhoe interfere with the lifting operation of the MMM?
2. My dealer is hesitant to put a MMM on, for fear of possible interference. Any comments out there on that??

The backhoe MUST be removed when the MMM is installed and used for grass cutting. The MMM and the backhoe can be installed together if it is for transport only. The three point hitch arms move up and down in relationship to the MMM since they are all hooked together mechanically. When the mower deck is lowered, the 3 point hitch arms lower also, and they hit the backhoe when you do this lowering. That is the reason to remove the backhoe when mowing.
