BX23 Painer Tube

Removing the left rear wheel makes life real simple. I had some metal after 300 hours that gave me some concern. I dragged a magnet through the strainer hole to clean out any filings that fell off the strainer, and gave the transmission an extra flush. All has been well in the last 200 hours. Anyone else find any excessive metal?

Yep, you are correct there...but it is under the heading Every 300 hours in my manual...

Sure can't hurt to do it early though...but I would not loose sleep if I didn't...and since I didn't I don't... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

HoggyB, yes , I did have the backhoe off at the time of the fifty hour service. I have taken the hoe off maybe ten times now. The first time is the longest. I can do it in just a minute or two now.

I did not remove my tire on my BX22 when I did my 50 hours service. The strainer bolt has plenty of room. Yes, you can do it will the BH on but my BH is not normally on. My strainer has some metal on it so I was glad I did it.

Someone stated the correct socket size. I had to go out and buy a 6-pt socket since the largest I had was a 24mm open wrench. Also not not "kill" the strainer when reinstallling. It does not hold the housing together.

The tube has plenty of flex in it. Just make sure you put the strainer with o-rings back in the correct order. Also make sure the strainer is cleaned and wiped down before re-installing.
