Kubota BX23
OK, I used to post under a different name when I had a B7500 2 years ago. My needs changed, I sold the B7500, and now am thinking about replacing my current machines. I currently mow about 2 1/2 acres around a pond, and around many trees and my house. I have a large asphalt parking and drive area, and the 7 total acres is pretty level. My main chore is mowing, and plowing snow. However I do have a need for light brushhogging and other loader and backhow work. I currently own a 2003 Gravely 260Z zero turn, and a 1994 Bobcat 450 skidsteer. The mower makes short order of my yard, and the bobcat is fun...though small. I am considering trading in both the Bobcat 450, 1100 hours, and the 12 hour Zero turm mower for a new Kubota BX23, TLB, with midmount mower. It looks like I can trade in both machines and only pay $6000 to boot. It seems like a very good deal to me. What do you guys think?

IMHO I wouldn't do it. I think you'll be sorry if you do. My opinion. G

You didn't fill out your profile so we do not know where you live. In New England area, the Bobcats command a hefty price, even worn out and abused. The new zero turn with few hours is another consideration. How much of a hit are you willing to accept on trading? I myself would like to make a major upgrade. I stop at the "hit" I am asked to accept before that upgrade. I wish you well in your new 23TLB if that's where your going. Have you asked/looked into about selling your machines privately?

Here are the numbers:

$14900 BX23 TLB $1800 for mower
$6500 for the Zero turn (I only paid 6950)
$4500 for the Bobcat (I only paid 3950)

The trades are a wash...and with the tax savings, I don't think I would come out ahead in the private market.

The items are used in south central Wisconsin.

An opinion without reasoning....is not helpful. And Kioti is not an option due to resale.

And it sounds like they have again.

Since you have already B7500 experience, you should be a pretty good judge if the BX23 has enough capability for your current needs.

You also know how a small tractor would compare to your current ZTR and skid steer...

The numbers are as good as I would wish for if I were in your shoes...

$16,700 may be a little hight for the BX23 + MMM but not totally out of hand.

I think it is a fairly good deal. I would probably do it if you were me... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you think about resale, your worse off than you think! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

BX series is over priced, PERIOD! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif G

While I realise you are proud of your tractor....re-sale ona non-big 3...meaning Kubota, John Deere and New Holland...is not promising. Why do you think Kioti paints their tractors orange? Why do you think they are styled after Kubota?

The BX series has revolutionized the compact tractor market...proof is simple....3 years ago when they came out, I almost bought one, but instead bought a B7500 for a much different terrain. I sold it a year latter due to a move, and got what iI paid for it!!

Now, all major manufacturers have a "Sub-compact" Deere, New Holland, Massey, Cub Cadet.....with only the Massey offering a similar pacakge....but again...Resale and recognition keeps me from buying a Massey.

By the way....I have researched Kioti extensively....inlcuding the potential of starting a Kioti dealership.....I am quite familiar with their business model and pricing structure....

Comapring a Kioti to a Kubota, is like comparing a Hyundai to a Toyota. And that is not a slap...since Hyundai is making serious progress...But..the comparison is valid none the less.

I have a BX22 and it is a very capable machine -- agile, powerful and versatile. Its hydraulics aren't as strong as those, say, on a B7500, but it'll will still lift a bucket full of whatever, and bottom line, that's all ya need. The backhoe is great for planting large trees and would dig a footer trench, no problem. It's a great mower, too. I haven't had much luck digging with the FEL because the BX is probably a little too light for that, but I also have turfs which aren't very aggressive. You price is about right, and given what you're getting for your trade-ins, it sounds like a great deal. Good luck on your decision.

Apples and Oranges Bub.

What was Toyota when they first came into the seen?! JAP CRAP! Today, they are better than Mercedes.

IMHO, Kubota (BX especially) should have a thread just for problems and repairs. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif G
