Since it has been raining, I have been thinking about the rear hyd. line that connects to the backhoe. With the back hoe off, the line gets reconnected to itself. BUT, if the line were fed into a valve for a Log splitter? Top and Tilt system? the list may go on? Does this make sense? If I set up a control block, and plumbed the system with the back hoe line, would this work?

Yes it will work.. You just have to get the proper valve set up that allows the fluid to flow through it if the valve is in a neutral position. I believe that they are referred to as open center. There has been a lot of discussion in the past. read here.
