Havent been around here in a while but when my tractor started acting up the first thing I did was search here.
The symptoms matched exactly the folks who found rusted fuel level sending units. Stalling, sputtering and such.
Seat switches check good with an ohm meter.
I could see trash in the first filter
Sooo after two and a half hours of dissasembly I had the tank out.

And what do you know

PERFECT!!

crap:mad:
I was sure that was it. But I know I would always wonder if the sending unit was rusty or not. And I rinsed out the tank good anyway.
I replaced both filters and hope that was the problem.
That's pretty much all I found in a search was the seat switches and the rust thing. If anyone has other suggestions of things to check let me know.
Thanks

Jeez, was that really 3 years ago? (Just looked at the date of your previous posts.) Well, now that you got her apart, might as well change all the lines in case there's a slug of something in them.

How bad and how often does it sputter?
I had to modify my seat switch to keep a good connection (I weigh 140 lbs... Don't let the name and weight confuse you...I'm a guy.)
If it runs consistently bad, you should be able to do a quick flow check. If it's intermittent, then it's gonna' be hard to spot with a one-off check.

The filters are so dinky on the BX's it doesn't take much to plug them up. Probably just a little dirt in your fuel. On mine, I could never figure out if my filters were gelling up or just a little bit of dirt was getting in them and plugging them up. I mounted a Racor unit and that fixed it. If you keep having problem mount a Racor or some people use the setup of a B sized tractor.

On my BX25, only enough, it was from a partially stuck brake. I thought for sure it was a fuel related problem, but once my dealer fixed the brake, the sputtering and stalling I had to deal with disappeared entirely.

Update: I haven't run it a lot but I did spend an afternoon with the rotary mower and no problems, so it seems like I got it fixed.
