BX23 toolbox project.

Excellent idea! I have walked around my tractor a dozen times trying to figure out a good place for a small box. That was great thinking to look under those plastic caps.

I liked your idea so much that I went right out to the local Army Barracks store and picked up a $6 ammo box. Looks like it will fit just right. I'll post pics when I get around to putting it on.

I really like your solution. The lack of a decent place to put a toolbox on the BX23 is one of the things that has bugged me. The only solution I could come up with was to weld up some boxes and then mount them on the frame members that run along the underside of the floorpan - so you would have like a footstep to get into the cab. I haven't yet gotten around to taking the time to build anything though. I think I might be ordering one of those boxes that you got and putting it on the back of my seat now. Great idea!

Volfandt, thanks for the tip. I'm still getting by with bungee cords over my rear tire well - - works OK for gloves, but that's about it.

I'm going to copy you!

Great idea, I have been using this thing made for mini-vans. It looks like a small briefcase that is held on with Velocro straps that go around the seat back. I found it at Autozone, and it's for the kids coloring stuff for long trips. I found it will hold a pair of gloves, a first aid kit and a couple of straps. The only problem is the Velcro straps get loose and it slides down, making it hard to turn the seat to use the bh. I'll try to bolt it down and post pictures.

My neighbor came up with this no-effort tool pouch for his BX23. It's marketed as a ladder tool thingy ... it just flops over the top of a ladder ... and a BX seat.

Spent most of Sat digging up stumps, small sapplings and climbing vine roots from around the back of the shop in preparation of building an overhang and those turkeys were hanging around and even pecking around in the new dug dirt. I'm beginning to think these birds must like the BX23!

On Thanksgiving, I generally deep fry one and smoke another and it was strange hearing them birds gobbling over on the other side of the fence whilst I cooked some of their like.

The toolbox did good on it's 1st working party. The tools in it didn't rattle about, it held tight and I only banged the ROPS once when I was hurriedly spinning the seat.

After all this rain we've been getting on weekends, finally getting to put some hrs on it was nearly pure joy. It's gonna be hard convincing the Mrs that operating the BX this mowing season is work /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good idea to get some more storage on the tractor. Does the weight of the toolbox disable the operator presence switch under the seat? IE: if you get off the seat while the transmission is still in gear, does the engine still shut off?

Just a thought for safety purposes.
