I too have a markham toothbar.......... I drilled in middle of slot. It only takes two minutes to unbolt, so I keep two wrenches in the toolbox with tractor and if my project all of a sudden requires a smooth bucket, I tilt bucket quickly unbolt let it drop off with a tap of hammer and then reinstall later if so needed.

Love my toothbar for clay work or even for scoring thick ice on the gravel driveway in spring thaw.

Markham toothbar teeth extend below edge of bucket. They are very effective for breaking into sod or dirt. Because they dont provide a flat surface, backdragging is done with heel of bucket to get teeth out of way. So.. the position of slot should not be a worry.

One thing to watch out for is the extended reach of the teeth. Most of the time they are out of your line of sight and have they annoying habit of catching on things while turning if you let your guard down for a second. Did some damage to my garage door trim in one of those moments.

They are a great help in getting the job done. Good luck and watch out with those teeth.

I thought about exactly that. These teeth could put a real hurtin' on stuff.

I'll have to go practice somewhere before I de-sod the flower bed sites. I've only used a toothbar on a skidloader, you can see what you're doing on those, kinda blind on this.
