BX2350 - Stopping in Reverse

I recenlty took delivery of a new Kubota BX2350 with 54" deck and fel. Have approx. 25 hours on it so far.(half mowing, half landscaping) It's doing everything I thought it would. My only complaint so far is ...when stopping in reverese the pedal seems very sensitive. It stops very abruptly, like hitting a wall or tree. In forward there is a smooth deceleration. I mentioned this to the dealer, he said he had heard of this complaint before but was unware of any fix. Anyone out there experience this? Any suggestions?

I don't use the reverse pedal on my BX2350. I put my foot under the forward pedal and pull up. This way, I can keep my heel on the ground, and I have better control over the deceleration.

I noticed this on the 2350 that I demo'd as well as the one I eventually purchased. This is what's known as "dynamic braking". Apparently Kubota has this set differently for forward versus reverse. I'm guessing they did it as a safety feature. All I know is it takes me longer to stop in reverse because I have to let up more slowly to avoid the whiplash!!

Yes sir, same here.

It seems that the higher the RPMs, the more abrupt the "whiplash".
I am trying to develop a kinder/gentler touch on that RVRS peddle, but sometimes it catches you by suprise.

If anyone hears about a fix, please post it!

I had guessed it as a "safety feature" but was going to follow up with the dealer.

Do you think it is something related to the "split treadle" design in the new version versus the "rocker treadle" design in the previous BX model? Or was it something they changed in, or added to, the transmission?

I was under the impression that the better part of the "core hardware" and hydraulic system (transmission internals) was carryover and the majority of the changes were in the appearence (non-mechanical) items (levers, curved booms, body panels, dash, hood, fenders, higher 3PH points, etc.)

Depending on how warm things are, my machine can stop quickly on its own. Not what I would classify as "whiplash inducing"...but I rarely "release" the treadle...I have a "heel-toe" position with my right foot completely mounted on the pedal 90% of the time. 125 hours and I'm already seeing wear patterns in the rubber.

Now this is skuttlebut that I saw posted here on TBN and according to another thread here, you can't believe everything you read here
But in ay case, I heard that the reason reverse is so abrupt on the newer BX's is because some fat arse sued Kubota because he couldn't stop in time whilst going in reverse and he must have hit something and hurt his little self.

(for the record, in over 3 yrs of ownership of a BX23 that has the correctly adjusted HST treadle, I've never hit anything in forward or reverse that letting off of the pedal sooner could have avoided, i.e. meaning it was MY fault if'n I did NOT stop fast enough....)

The change was made to avoid further law suits.
If this is true, it would appear that one dumbarse has effected many 1000's of other folks.....
Course this could just be skuttlebutt but it sounded good

Wait till you have a back-hoe mounted ... Then you will see what its like to stop fast when backing up... After the front wheel kiss the ski... I think its very touchie...

Add me too, I'm getting better and lift the forward pedal with my toes, but I was letting junior ride with me (OOOPs don't tell anyone) and he's sitting on my left leg, as I back out of the garage, foot slips out from underneath and his head jolts back and tags the rops... It definately left a mark and his eyes leaked a little too.

But like I said, I'm getting better, but the potential is still there.
