Here are a couple of "Spy shots" of our soon to be released BXpanded Quick-On Under Armor for the BX. It incorporates carefully designed vents to provide for airflow and chaff evacuation while still providing protection for the fan, fuel pump, fuel filter and hydro filter. Like most of our products, it installs in seconds. It'll be available in the next couple of weeks.
BXpanded, just checked out your web site, nice stuff! I'd like to request brush guards for the fender mounted signal/brake lights. I have wiped out a couple lenses already mowing close to thickets of brush. Just some flat bar bent in the right pattern would bolt right on and save these. You have to buy the whole light, not just the lens. Small production cost, high value. I will be your first customer!

My fan got speared by sticks too. It took off a couple blades, cracked the rest of them at the root, and tore the rubber boot covering the rear U joint or tri-pot or CV joint or whatever it is. The flapping boot melted a hole in the plastic body and floor mat. Now I can look through it a see the spinning driveshaft. How 'bout that for safety, Kubota attorneys!!.

I say; most inconsiderate of Kubota for not including in the owners manual in large print. A flapping boot is a signal only to Kubota Attorneys that something is bad wrong and damage is going to occur. For all others, ignore the noise it will go away sooner or later when something melts.

what is the new BXpanded price?

Subscribe me for a plate, does it have to come off to put the MMM back on? I have the rear hitch and the loader stand already from you. I am curious about a cutout for the MMM driveshaft!

Thanks for all the comments. We'll have better pics and hopefully some videos pretty soon. Meanwhile, I'll try to answer a few of the questions.

The Under Armor is one item of a planned group of "BX Body Armor".

Specifically, this is designed for use when the MMM is not on the tractor. After the initial installation of maybe 5 minutes, it'll go on or off in half a minute.

It's 1/8 inch thick steel (for reference, thats about 4 sheets of paper thinner than your loader bucket)

The vents are designed and oriented to allow airflow while still preventing sticks from reaching the transmission cooling fan (no, they're not knockouts!;))

The plate tucks up pretty tightly to the tractor frame. It angles downward enough to protect the filter, but not so much as to unnecessarily reduce ground clearance. With this design, it would take a long, carefully threaded stick to reach the fan. (The unit is longer than it appears in the pics.)

Pricing isn't finalized yet, but we expect it to be quite reasonable.

Thanks!
Harry

For newcomers who haven't seen them before there are pictures of the BroTek and custom skidplates (by Milkman and Volfandt) on the BX wiki here.

BXpanded - if you let me know when your details are finalized I'll add that option too.

The Fan page has a description of a fix (by SEOhDave). Perhaps SEOhDave can tell us if the repair is still holding up?

If I had the problem, I'd go for the split/ziptie approach...

Nice post but the newcomes should use the powerful search function here. These issues are from years ago...

Seems people forget to use the search here:confused:
