Backhoe BX24 backhoe thumb custom made PICS

Custom fabricated thumb! welded piping thru the boom so it would help the rigidity of the boom. 2 pins and the thumb comes off!

I used it for about a hour moving brush around, moving railroad ties, small logs and just plane messing around.
I was able to dig with the thumb attached but I couldnt reach out to dig but you could still do a trench or hole just a little bit tricky.

NOTE* the orange paint I used was factory KUBOTA paint from the dealer, Ill have to find some paint that matches perfectly.

Its a brute! Ive been messing with it the past week moving scrap steel around, digging out a few large bushes and just beating the crap out of it! I did pick the tractor up in the air with the thumb on the ground only, still held and no issues with the boom. I just wish the tractor was a little bit bigger.... Ill have to save my pennies for the L39

Nice job on the thumb. Looks heavy duty. To make it more versatile, you could modify it to fold back.

Wow that does look stout! I made one too but I didn't have the cajones to bore through the dipper stick, warranty issues and all
BTW you may find you want to make its angle adjustable, I've moved mine in and out quite a bit depending on what I'm picking up.
I'll get around to posting my pics ...someday

that thumb is going to be thicker then any other single part on your tractor....just a little overkill there.

That steel looks like 1 X 3 in stock. Is it A36 or T1, and is that laser cut or plasma cut?
