Hi to all, for the past week I noticed that my BX24 was cranking over much slower than usual. Tonight when I went to start my toy it wouldn't start. After looking things over I noticed that the main lead at the alternator was rusted and loose. I cleand up the lead, tighted it up and it started to charge again. I was very surprised to see rust on the wireing , my bota sleeps in the shop. So for all you guys out there lucky enough to own one of those babies, should take two minutes to look at your alternator before you get stuck out in the boonies!!

I couldn't get mine to start either, so I pulled the screen off, and the negative terminal fell out. It was never put on the battery!

Sadly that wasn't my problem, the PTO engagement lever was, a few shakes and it started. I spent about 3 hours trying to figure that one out.

I wish that thing weren't so sensitive. And I also wish it were on the same side of the loader stick, since I just about always get off the tractor on the other side and occassionally bump the PTO lever. :)

Put a dab of vasolene or chassie grease on the 'lectrical connection.. it will help prevent corrosion.. etc..

I'd like to get a little clarification on this..:)
The main lead should be copper or tinned copper or heaven forbid aluminum, none of which rust.
Was it perhaps the stud on the back of the alternator that was rusted?
Thanks.

I had similar problem with my BX23. It ran fine for six months, then battery finally had enough. Turned-out the alternator wire wasn't attached.

Dealer sent a mobile mechanic to fix it (10 minutes) and gave me a new battery too.
