I have a nice new BX24 at home now, and while I absolutely adore the thing and can't wait to get the **** out of work today, I did learn about one little detail that I'm disappointed in. But I almost think that this may be the norm on tractors these days.

The thing is that the way that the mid-hitch and 3pt hitch are both controlled as a single unit is kinda weak. I'm used to running an old Wheel Horse tractor, and on that, the mid and 3pt are controlled indendently. When I use this tractor, I almost always independently control the mid and 3pt, because I have a plow on the mid-hitch and a grader on the 3pt. When I carve trails in the woods I just about always need to control the two implements independently.

Oh well, overall, it's not a big deal, as I intend to leave the BX as a fulltime TLB. Are most tractors like this these days though? I'm not really up to date on the little details of things.

Could you post some pictures of th setup. Did you attached a grader blade to the mid linkage? Also, is it a road grader or box blade you have hooked up to the back. Just trying to picture it.

By the way, congradulations on the new machine. Saw you pictures. great rig.:)

Thanks kwolfe!

Here are some pictures. The back blade, as you'll see, is just a plain grader blade on the 3pt. The front blade actually connects to the rear of of the tractor frame underneath, runs all along the length of the tractor, connects to the mid-point hitch underneath, and comes out the front. It's on a ladder frame that's about 7 feet long.

And here's a situation where I'm controlling the implements independently:

The rest of the Wheel Horse pics are here. Wheel Horse D-180 :D

I may be missing what your concern is. Is it that you are thinking that you cannot use a 3PH implement with the MMM attached?

No, I didn't get a MMM. But, if I wanted to use this tractor in the same way I use my WH, where I have a front blade and a rear blade, I wouldn't be able to control them independently. Chances are that I'll never need to use it this way, but I'm just slightly disappointed that the option isn't there. I had a Gravely tractor that was the same way. I did use that to mow, and the 3pt would go down with the mower deck. It just seems kinda weak to put both hitches on the same valve, that's all.

Ok, I think it's a matter of specific use or interpretation or something.
I do exactly what you are talking about (moving dirt) with the FEL and a 3pH blade. Granted it's not a snow plow on the front though.
I guess I was having trouble seeing what you were getting at because there is no mid lift on the BX, as it actually uses the 3PH to raise/lower a MMM.

Fortunately, the loader is independent of the 3pt hitch. Imagine how difficult it'd be if your loader dropped every time you lowered your 3pt hitch.

I guess I'm just used to belly-mounted implements being on their own independent hitch and not being fixed to the 3pt. Ultimately, it really doesn't matter, because it's highly unlikely that I'll use my BX in the same manner that I use the Wheel Horse. So, I won't really dwell on it that much, reckon. :D

Congrats on the new tool RayCo. Seems you've got Wheel Horse's and now a Kubota, you'd be surprised how many folks around here have similar. I started a tread over on owner/operating seeking this info but it appears no one wants to come out and play, but oh-well you make at least the 10th poster I know of with WH's & Kubota's :D

As to your question, nice D160 btw, if you put a plow on the front of your BX24 it'll work off of the FEL's hydraulics and not be effected by what you're doing w/the 3ph mounted blade. So you will not loose independant control of a front blade and rear blade. The front blade of the BX series doesn't run the length of the frame as WH's do, they connect to the front as well as to some bracing under the tractor. The FEL joystick then controls it's function.

If you haven't noticd it yet, that 3 cyl diesel is very frugal w/the fuel and it's not very loud at all. I use my BX23 primarily for finish mowing and the effortless power steering coupled with all to easy direction changes makes it my most favorite finish mower to date, better than my WH's, Craftsman and JD!

I absolutely love the Wheel Horses. They're really nothing compared to wha they used to be, but that's happened to so many things that were bought out by other companies over the years...

Excellent! I hadn't even thought about that, so that actually would make this REALLY not matter! :D Thanks!
