Twisted dipper stick, any suggestions on where to get a replacement, hopefully used?

Anyone tried straightening?

I use to work for a shop that repaired damaged construction equipment like that. did a lot of Kubota work 20 and 30 years ago. was located in Southern Md. I'm sure there are places like that near you.

Interestingly, I've repaired a few brand new Kubota backhoe's where the pin bosses weren't welded in straight and parallel for my dealer. It involves machining the pin bosses with a line boring machine and machining an oversized pin. I've done a couple for them, just not lately.

Any competent weld and fab shop can straighten your dipper stick but you will need to completely disassemble it prior to and have them weld in gussets to prevent it from happening again.

Thank You for all of your helpful responses. I have taken some pictures and have attached them. As illustrated the twist appears to be near the bucket end of the dipper stick where I had installed a "Bro Tech" thumb. Hopefully these pictures will illustrate the amount of twist.

As suggested I called a few Fab shops in the area as well as dealers in regard to used dippers and/or where they send units for repair. So far results were do not work on small jobs or do not deal with that level or repair. I will continue to call as I get references.

A new Kubota 7K522-31010 dipper was quoted around $760-$790.

Hopefully pictures (5) have been uploaded intact

Again, Thanks

Now I'm somewhat curious as to how you did that. I presume you used the bucket at full uncurl to move something sideways and twisted the dipperstick. Too bad you reside so far from me or I'd straighten it for you but I'd have to have the entire unit (backhoe) here at the shop to insure proper alignment and I'd have to inspect it for compromised welds and pin alignment as well don't know of any shops out your way except Reitnauer trailer near Philadelphia however I don't believe they would help you out. Did you contact Messicks and discuss the issue with them as the do have the repair equipment as well.

Thats actually not that bad. I have seen them worse at that shop had worked at.

I've twisted the dipper stick on my homemade backhoe once. I was moving 14ft long logs with it once by grabbing it in the middle and had one caught something and twisted the stick. My fix for that was to grab the log by one end and force it against something immovable and took the twist out of it.

Try and bend it back. You might spend a bunch of time or get lucky and stumble on a shop quickly that would take it on.

Still a lot of good in the structure just need some thinking and leverage to get it back straight enough you would not notice.

I just broke my dipper stick hydraulic ram on bx24. Understand what you dealing with on kubota pricing.

Kubota parts pricing is getting outta sight. Maybe trying to keep up with John Deere...lol

Just bought a spare rocker switch for my cab M9 to operate the roof beacon I installed. 56 bucks. crazy price but the cutout in the roof panel is odd sized and only Kubota had the proper dimension switch and I looked hard too. 56 bucks for a 5 buck switch is way over the top.

Thanks for all of your comments/suggestions. Believe me at my age I am sure there will be a day when I decide to do something drastic. I have given some thought to trying to bend it back but at this point in time, I am not exactly sure how to do it. The twist is at the end of the attached thumb which reinforces the dipper above the twist. I would think If an adequate force be applied to bend the dipper, the weakest point would be just below that thumb.

Sounds good, would be nice if a had a drop of experience with metal work.

For now I plan on continuing to call around to see if a shop is interested in the repair. Been retired for more than twenty years so lost track of my older service contacts. The day I determine a new dipper is the only option, "game on",
