Kubota BX25
Hello. I am new to this website and I am hoping I can get some advice on which tractor to buy. I was going to buy the Kubota BX25TLB tomorrow but then I discovered the Massey Ferguson GC2410TLB. I don't know much about the Massey Ferguson but after watching the comparison video I think it might be a better machine but not sure. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated before I buy the wrong tractor. Thanks.

I was in the same boat as you're in 4 years ago, and ended up with the BX24. I liked the fit and finish of the BX a little more, but the GC 2410 is a real nice tractor too. When I was looking, the Massey dealer didn't seem like they were interested in selling tractors, and that's what ultimately lead me to the kubota. The GC2410 has a little more digging force, and I think a little more power, and more lifting in the front bucket, but I liked the fact kubota uses their own engines. I think the 3 point arms can stay on the GC2410 while the BH is on, but on the BX25 the 3point arms have to come off. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Not a big deal, but can be a pain if you're in a hurry. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Both very good machines.

You will do well with a Kubota! Some ads make a lot of fluff over nothing and the BX, while they have been being built for years and many have thousands of hours on them.

I can't remember when I did need the brakes while operating a hydro drive tractor.

They make a big deal over the single cylinder on the bucket, I've not seen any problems and it's not like Bobcat hasn't used that design on skid steers for forty years!

The open non covered valve, I don't know why you should need it to be sealed in in that location!

One of the greatest things about a sub-compact is they are a low center of gravity, so why do you want to sit way up in the air? The BX 25 has more ground clearance so you can go over rougher terrain with out dragging your bottom.

There is no wrong choice. Both are great little machines. If you haven't already looked at the Massey then I would assume that a dealer isn't that close to you. If you are comfortable with the BX and the dealer, it's probably a better choice.

The local Kubota dealer here is also the local Massey Ferguson dealer but he did not have a GC2410 and I had not even heard of the GC2410 until I was surfing on the web earlier today so I did not ask about it. I have already been approved for 0% for 60 months by Kubota and was going to by the BX25 tomorrow for $16,400 but now that I have discovered the GC2410 I am hesitant. I love the Kubota and I have been raised to believe that Kubota is the best tractor to have but there are some features that I really like on the GC2410 like the pedals and that fact that the GC2410 has a tach and the BX25 does not and that the GC2410 operates at a lower rpm. I don't know which way to go. Decisions, decisions.

The BX25 doesn't have a tach?

I liked the easy on and off FEL and BH of the MF, the lower RPM's, the red color, the foward and rear pedals being side by side, and most of all the 6 years 0% financing . That allowed me to get more attachments and still stay in my monthly budget. The MF website now only shows 5 years 0% financing. Good luck with your TLB choice and I am sure either one will work fine for you :D. KC

I was in the same position last fall. I was all set to buy a BX25, had a reasonable price from a dealer and ready to sign the next day until a friend insisted I check the GC. Once I did there was no going back for me. If you have another M-F dealer that is fairly close you owe it to yourself to check out the GC. I'm confident if you spend a few minutes with each machine you will know which you prefer. Both are excellent machines and I would have been thrilled with either.

Many of the differences between the two come down to personal preference, but there are a few things where I felt the GC had a clear advantage, primarily the larger displacement (1123cc vs 898cc), lower rpm motor and the hydraulic flow / pressure at low rpm. I found the BX needed to be revved up a bit to make it move where the GC would move and lift itself off the ground just above idle. The GC has a little more "relaxed" character because of it, and I like that in a tractor.

Check out pg 5 of this thread for pics of my machine.

The BX has a tach built into the hour meter. When the machine is running the hour meter displays engine rpm, when shut off it displays hours. When I sat on a bx for the first time, my very first question was "Where's the tach?" If you wear reading glasses, you might need them to read the tach when the machine is running.

I did not know that and neither did the salesman for that matter.
