I bought a bx25d with a landpride box blade in June. I paid 18,000.00 even with taxes without a belly mower. I want a thumb but I was quoted 800.00. I really would like one but I can not find one online. I have been digging whole pine trees up and a thumb would make life so much easier.

I have one of these which I like:

Other folks here use:

There are a couple others too but I can't think of them right now.

I do not know what to call the factory thumb mounting bracket that is already welded in place on my bx25d. Anyway I have read where people had to cut these or modify the bracket to make the aftermarket thumbs work. Since I do not have the skills or knowledge to fabricate or modify a aftermarket thumb I prefer to just buy a OEM thumb.

The BXpanded Barracuda Thumb fits the BX25D with no modifications. You can see it here Barracuda BH Thumb

I have both the Bro-Tek thumb & the ripper tooth for my BH77. They're both excellent but without a doubt, the ripper tooth is my favorite add on!!!

Yeah, looking for a ripper for my BX... does it rip though? I don't see any teeth that will tear up roots. My concern. I can see it great for trenching though. Let us know.

It works very well - I'm still working on my technique but it's AWESOME! Here's the 1st stump I dug out with it!

I LOVE my Bro-Tek ripper tooth. I'm ripping out cedars, which have long lateral roots that are pretty shallow under the surface. It works great for those. If I was going after bigger trees with deep tap roots, I might wish it has some serrations on it to cut the roots.

The great thing about the ripper for me is that I'm working in black, gummy clay soil. If I was using the bucket, it would pack full of clay and I'd have to clean it out all the time. The clay sticks to the ripper, but putting it back in the ground for the next rip knocks the clay off.

I don't have a thumb on mine because I have another tractor with a grapple. If I was gonna get a thumb, I think I'd get the BXpanded thumb or the one rbarker posted above. Having to use a toplink on the Bro-Tek thumb looks like it would be a PITA to change the length of it.

Yes it is, I use mine fixed. I would prefer a factory thumb with the pivot on the bucket but in 2002 they were not around.

I get by with the Bro-Tek thumb OK, and Richard is great to deal with and supports his product.
