BX2660 Fuel Tank Blockage

Thanks for the help. I have tried the vacuum trick twice (after draining the tank and mopping up the fuel I could reach with a rag) along with fishing around with a rag attached to a wire. We'll see.

I also spliced in a T with a line running under the seat so I can blow air back through the tank without disassembling everything first. Hopefully that will at least get me through this season before I have to take the tank out.

I hope I didn't offend anyone, but there really has to be a better way for Kubota to do this. I am in the process of making a screen to place in the fill hole that should catch any stray debris. I'll post pics when I'm done and I know it works.

For all those folks who haven't had this problem yet, I hope you never do. It is a real PIA.

You can get a funnel with a screen.

Personally, when the cap comes off, Mr. Funnel goes in.

Rather than using a vacuum, how about something like a Top Sider oil changer- feed the suction line down to the lowest point you can reach and use the suction from the pump on the changer tank to draw the last of the fuel out. Filter it and dump a gallon back in and draw it out again.

I would do this 2 or 3 times and see if any debris comes out in the filtering process.

I am having this problem with my BX2660 that I have owned since new for 260 hours run time over the last three years. First time it happened was two days ago.

I changed the two fuel filters and the air cleaner but still have the problem. When I took the back filter off the fuel flowed out just fine.

It will run for about 15 minutes and then start losing power and running rough. I can hear the fuel pump running after I stop the engine and turn the key back on.

Did the OP fix his problem by cleaning the tank?

Maybe the second filter has a floating piece in it or the booster pump gets weak or dies after running awhile, just a thought. I always change both filters at the same time. Cheap insurance. I use the steel cased ones instead of the plastic. Had a stick break a plastic one.

I did change both filters yesterday. I'm draining the tank right now.Once I get all the fuel out I will try my Mityvac on sucking on the hose coming out of the bottom of the tank. I might replace the fuel pump before I remove the tank.

This happened to me a few years ago, pulled up to the shop. Pulled fuel line off at the filter put my vacuum pump in line. Pulled 3 Lady Bugs out of the line. Don't ask how or when they got into my fuel but no problem since.

I drained the tank and got a lot of junk out of it so I thought that I was good to go. Even put a vacuum on the fuel line to see if I could get more trash out. Ran some more diesel through just to be sure. Put her back together and started mowing and again in about 15 minutes she started losing power.

Took the deck off again and tested the fuel pump. Pumped good stream of fuel and tested the pressure and it was about 5 psi. Put that back together and went to the last hose before the injector and got good flow there and again about 5 psi. Ran the engine for about 20 minutes and it ran fine.
Next I will blow out the return line as I had a similar problem with a diesel in a sailboat that had a bad return line.

And ideas would be appreciated before I haul her to the dealer? Thanks.
