C. B. radio users??????????? question.

get family radio service radios. they go from 20-60$ a pair.. and range goes up with $$ I've used a 30$ pair when hunting and got hundreds of yards thru woods with excelent reception. can get eair pieces and all.

My father and I have communication problems. When we pass each other in the hay field, he makes all kinds of hand gestures of what he wants me to do.

Of course, I most of the time have no clue what he is trying to get across to me. He has now resorted to calling my cell phone every 3 minutes it seems, which is driving me crazy.

I know a bunch of you larger farmers have radios in your tractors and trucks. Have any of you found a good deal on a decent set of radios that we could mount in the tractors and the two trucks?

Oh, we are usually in the same field working, so the range is very minimal. When we are not in the same field, we usually are no more than 1/2 mile apart, woods between us, no further than 1 mile, tops.

Hello Marshal:

Since no one answered your question and CB's have been my hobby for 50+ years. May I suggest that you double check your SWR on both tractors and double ground the radio to the frame, That is- the ground that grounds the radio so it makes a connection is not strong enough to carry the voice envelope ! The addition of a lead acid battery ground strap from the radio to frame will work wonders, that should do it- canam1500 Gore,VA.

that kind of xmit tech is so 70's with a FRS he can have digital squelch and 150 privacy channels AND good range.. AND not everyone in the county has to hear what pass you are on and what the rakes doing.. etc.. ( and this is from a ham to boot! de ke4rrd )
