Ralph,

As you can see by Fourteen's post, most of us don't take ourselves too seriously either (and that's a good thing!).

So join in any time and share whatever you have to share.

TraderRalph,
So sorry to here of your mother's passing. I lost my mom in '87. Hang in there. As time passes I have frequent, happy memories of her. You will, too. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Glad you came back. Hang around and visit the other forums too. TBN is a great community. Looking forward to more posts from you in the future, David G.

PT owners can be a bit more excentric (even opinionated!) as well.

Say it ain't so! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Traderralph welcome back. Sorry to hear of your mothers death and your business situation with a friend. There is a good group of guys on tbn who are very helpful with all kind of information.

Good to see you're back TR.....wish it was under better circumstances in your life. We can only imagine the turmoil you must be experiencing at this time but hang in there...time has a way of taking care of things. A few years ago I lost 2 friends...one had a "fancy" for my wife(he was easy to lose)...the other died and I miss him a lot.......but hey, I've only been in TBN a few months but I've enjoyed it here so far..I only wish I would have found out about the PT years ago!....now I "look forward" to outside chores rather than putting them off!

Hey, I want to thank each & every one of you that has responded with the kind words. I really appreciate it.
I do have a situation that I need help with. I have a Bolens 16hp with fel that is just about past my ability to steer. I need power, hydraulic steering. Since my accident I can't do a lot of strenuous work. Any ideas?
Thanks for listening,
TraderRalph

Don't know how hard it would be to put power steering on a Bolens. You might want to post a question in the Customization thread. But be prepared for a lot of "You'd be better off buying a different tractor..." responses. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm no mechanical wiz, so I'd go the different tractor route. But I suppose if you have a source for hydraulics on the tractor some sort of ram could be hooked to the steering. Then you'd need a steering valve of some type. The project could get up into the hundreds after you add up all the parts, hoses, fittings, etc... You might be able to sell the Bolens and buy a different used tractor for near the same amount, depending on the re-sale value of the Bolens, etc...

Of course some one else will probably come up with a much cheaper and better alternative, so take my advice with a grain of salt. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Traderralph since you are on the power trac forum have you considered a power trac? It is hard to tell if one would be a good choice for you as you did not go into much detail as what you want to use it for . The power trac is very versitile with many attachments available. Also you are probably not that far from their plant in Tazwell, Va. to go and check them out. I have had my pt 422 for over 4 years with no problems, I use it mostly for mowing and use the small loader bucket a lot.

Thanks-MossRoad & ernemats, A PT is definitely in my plans for the future. I buy, sell & trade on all brands, as a hobby. I just traded for this Bolens to help carry topsoil for flower beds etc, also to put gravel in potholes in one of my driveways that happens to be gravel. I probably will sell or trade on the Bolens, but I want to do something for the steering, it will just make it a much better unit, for me while I use it or to whoever I sell or trade it to, I want them to be able to steer it also. Since I am new to asking for help this way I appreciate any direction you can give me. I will post the question on customization thread.
Thanks for listening,
TraderRalph
