Cab Heaters

Yes I know that it is July but cold weather will be here again before we realize it. I have a Curtis Cab on my BX2200 and want to install a heater. Is there anyone out there that has done this install already? Is there an install kit for this? I bought my heater from a company called Mill Supply in Ohio. It is a heater for a step van but fits perfectly on the mounting bracket in the cab. Where did you tap in with the hoses? The power supply is easy to do with all the wiring right there in the cab. Pictures would be great if possible. Thanks for any and all help in advance.

If you contact Curtis and ask them to send the install instructions for the cab heater, so you can evaluate them, I know that they will do so. They sent me the install instructions for the cab when I requested it... It is my guess that there is a take off near the water pump and the return is in the side of the block. It might take a little looking, but I am certain that you could find it.
How much did you have to pay for the truck heater? What is the model #? Could you please list the address or web site for Mill Supply? .... thanks

I have one installed on my Curtis Cab. Here is a web page that will take you to several pictures of how the heater is plumbed. I put this page up last year for someone else.

Bob... do you remove the cab for the warm months? I have a BX22 and there is only one cab manufacturer that has a cab for it. It cost $3500, so that is out of the picture. I was thinking of getting the Curtis soft sided cab for the winter and removing it for the summer when the hoe goes back on. I don't know what will happen with the ROPS, because the BX22 ROPS is higher to accommodate the hoe seat position. One way or the other, I will need something before the snow flies..

I paid $102.00 for the heater from Mill Supply. That price included shipping. It was a end of the season sale type of thing. I saw it last year also at end of season for a little less but did not get it at that time. The web page is www.millsupply.com It looks a little different than the one in the picture from rbarker but is almost the same size dimensions as the one that Curtis has. I don't know the model number, but I know that it is in their Step Van catalog.

Thank you for the pictures. They help out a lot. I should be able to get the T fittings and such from the auto parts store or if not I know that I can get them from Mill Supply.

No I don't. It seems like it would be a fairly big job and I don't really have any reason to take it off.

Okay, the ROPS fits outside the cab anyway so that won't make any difference. Also, if my memory serves me correctly, the entire back panel of this cab would remove by snaps and velcro, leaving only the roof to be concerned with. Probably not the greatest set up but it might be workable if you're not of huge stature. I'll take a closer look in the morning and verify that the panel comes completely off.

rbarker is correct. The back panel of the Curtis cab is snapped on top and velcro along the sides and bottom. If you can fit under the top, then there would be no problem. I think that you might be farther ahead of the game to remove the cab in warmer weather to use the hoe. I leave my cab on year round but it doesn't look to be to big of a job to remove, provided you have some help to lift it. I also don't have a back hoe either.

I got the Curtis cab heater and yes you can buy the fittings you need anywhere, the one thing they include you might not think of is an inline shut off.
