The pros and cons of vertical exhaust or the underhood horizontal exhaust pipe has been "kicked around" here on TBN quite a bit...

But - I don't think I've heard much from the cab owner's if it makes any difference to them or not!

Don't know what I'd order right now on a new cab tractor... I've had tractors with both types on open station machines - this would be my first cab tractor.

Thanks in advance.

If I had the option, I'd have a verticle exhaust as tall as the cab. Having soot blow on my loader or snowblower drives me nutz .

Our L5030 HSTC has under the hood and our M8540 has a vertical exhaust as did our CX80. I prefer the vertical exhaust because of the soot blowing on the loader with the under the hood, less likely to brearh the exhaust fumes and it is quieter.

I haven't had any issues with the front exhaust to speak of. It is true that you can get some soot on the loader arms, but not a big deal to me.

What you don't wan't is a rear discharge such as on my 820, the exhaust makes it difficult to hook up attachments without the IMatch.

I have the 1652 with the cab. The exhaust comes out by the loader arm. It does cover the arm in soot, but I don't care. I do have to make sure I close my cab door when I'm starting it, or the exhaust blows into the cab and I have to open the windows to clean out the air. I considered putting a vertical stack on, but I would have to have it pretty hight to get the exhaust away from the cab air intake vents. I would then have to worry about it getting ripped off on a branch at that point.

I have never noticed getting any fumes from under hood exhaust on a cab 20 series. I think that if you where in a delicate crop situation it would be nice. I do think the vertical exhaust looks nice.

I have both ... the Montana 4340C exhaust comes out just in front of the drivers side loader mount and always has the soot build up...I do want to change that to a stack ..

The Branson 5530C has the stack and I like that real well ... actually prefer it.

Yep.. I do like the looks of the vertical exhaust!

Seems likely that the vertical setup would tend to "breathe" into the cab intake and the filter system wouldn't handle it.

But, the underhood is alot more bothersome on an open-station tractor - IMO - than the vertical pipe.

Mine dumps right below the left step to get in the cab. There is no soot issues and I never smell it unless I am sitting still with the cab door open. I didn't have a choice of exhaust locations, but I like where it is at.
