Cab Radios

Hi All.

I am close to buying either a used B300, or a brand new B2650.

Can anyone tell me the Radios they install in the Cab version has a "USB" input to allow you to hook up an ipod or other auxiliary device?

If not, are you all installing another type/brand radio yourself?

BTW.. what exactly is the make/model do they install at the factory or dealer?

It's not a Kubota but my Branson has a Kenwood in it with the USB,
I'm considering changing it out for one with Blue Tooth hopefully with a mic input for my phone.

Hey man- I have found the factory stereos to be lacking. I went to best buy and bought my own speakers and a bluetooth stereo and been rocking it for 5 years with no problems. It has a usb connection too but I never use it. Had to take off the roof to install it...

I read on another post the same thing about having to remove the roof of the cab to get to wires or something.

That sounds like a daunting project.

Pretty sure Messicks have a youtube video showing how to do it, and had a cheap Chinese unit that fits the bracket exactly.

I bought a radio on ebay for my B2650. All the wires for the install are right behind the pop out radio panel. Didn’t have to remove the roof.
I searched for Kubota radio on ebay. The shorter ones fit right in.

I put a radio in my B2650 cabbed tractor but find the whine from the transmission overpowers the factory speakers. I could upgrade the speakers but it’s not really a priority as I only use the tractor occasionally.

I have read that same thing on numerous posts about the noise and whine inside the cab is so loud that the operator can't hear the radio anyway.

Having more peace and quiet was something I had been looking forward to having with a cab. Sounds like I may be wearing hearing protection even WITH a cab.

Shucks I simply went to the auto scrap yard and my tractor sports a nice AM/FM stereo.

That set me back a whole $20.00!

I installed one of these JVC media receivers in my Kioti (narrow depth with bluetooth) and replaced the cheesy 4" speakers with 5-1/4". Did have to remove a little from the cardboard headliner with the dremel for them to fit though. I have installed stereo equipment for a lot of years, and can tell you that these produce waaay more (undistorted) sound than needed as close to your head as they are.

Not sure what the issue is with Kubotas whine, either through the speakers (electrical) or from engine/tranny but my cab is fairly quiet with radio off.

If you are going to be mowing or in dusty conditions, you might look at weatherproof radios for equipment or boats???

I find the noise from the transmission to be quite loud. Generally speaking the larger the tractor, the quieter the HST is. I also think the bigger tractors have nicer cabs with more soundproofing. Putting up with the whine is just part of owning a smaller HST tractor. Having said that I really appreciate being in a heated cab when snow clearing.

KUBOTA RADIO - KUBOTA RADIO HARNESS

They have the $20 adapter plug so you can mount any standard radio in a Kubota without slicing up the wiring harness. I got the plug elsewhere for $7 or something. It fit but the colors didnt match (it was a generic electronics plug not advertised for radios or Kubotas). I ended up spending an hour or 3 figuring out the pins/color mapping. I'd just get the properly colored & documented one if I were to do it again & save my time. There are a few posts on here for wiring things up, mostly for UTVs. The tractors & UTVs use the same harness so it's mostly relevant.

I have a Kenwood car unit that's holding up fine. It works good except the display brightness. I thought mounting up on the roof would mean the complaints about the display being dim would be moot. Its not & I can't see the display unless it's not bright out.

Really the cab on my tractor isnt that much duster than in my truck. The link above has some industrial grade radios that are probably beefier & have better sealant coatings over the electronics. But I'll bet on average a $100 or junk yard radio will last the life of the tractor anyway. At the price difference you can afford 3 or more car radios for the price of the industrial radio.

I bought a radio from the dealer I got the tractor from. It is an up-grade, better than factory and looking around the same radio was more expensive on line. It came with all the correct wiring and as far as taking off the roof, I just took out the bolts from the front and sides and put a wood block under the hood and against the frame so I could reach in. You have to do this to bolt the radio to the bracket in the roof that the bolt on the back of the radio has on it. Direct plug in and antenna plug in and pull the wood block and set the roof back down and put the bolts back in. Easy as pie!
