I'm still struggling with the idea of putting spacers and chains on my tractor.I just can't seem to justify the cost;$600 more or less.Last year we only had 1 significant snowfall and this year so far, mainly rain.Does anyone have any experience running cables on the rear wheels for added traction.I believe they would most likely clear my fenders thus avoiding the need for spacers.Any thoughts?

I have tried them on a semi and they did not last. Waste of money in that application.

Do you need them? We push snow with a B7500(R4s) and BX2660(Turfs) with no chains, but most of our work is flat.
You might also try just front chains...

Definitely need them since my driveway is on an incline.Packed snow makes it almost impossible to get traction. Not sure if I have enough clearance on the front for chains.Anybody try this on a "B" series Kubota?

I think we are comparing apples to oranges here.

On a small B series tractor with the "inside" cable next to the fender set high near the tread it might work. It should clear the fender. I too think it could possibly work if someone has cable chains to experiment with.

We used to have sets for use on the ambulance- never actually put them on but I was skeptical. I think on the tractor, they wouuld be much better suited. The can be adjusted so they are more or less tight to the tire.

have you found a source for tractor tire size or were you going to make them?

OK Guys.I FINALLY found a set of CHAINS that don't rub the inner fender. They are Telefsdahl Nortactor chains.Very low profile on the edges. The center links are hardened and have raised pads on the contact area.I got them at the local tractor dealership for $360 including sales tax. They went on very easily.I had to use a grinder with a cut-off whell to remove a couple of the hardened links for final adjustment.I may have to lay down some OSB or rubber cow mat on my concrete garage floor to avoid any damage. Thanks for any advice/replies.

poosniffer, do you have a link for the tire chains or the dealer you purchased the chains from? What style chain did you get and do you have any pics? Thanks. Sorry for all the questions.

I cant offer any advice on the chains, I run 2-link ladders myself when needed...

But your username? Can you explain that please:laughing:

I have a 4500 w/FEL and I only run chains on the front. I did not want to put spacers on the back and found i can lift the front slightly if it gets too slippery. The back end does slide around on occasion but that just keeps your attention :D

The front chains keep your front end from being pushed around and w/4 wheel drive you can really put the tractor where you want it. I welded up a quick mount attachment for an old truck plow, shortened up the a-frame and without the chains the angle plowing would shove me around.

As for cable chains, I have never been around them so can't say.
