I have a 4310 with a folding rops. I have looked at two vendors enclosed cabs. Curtis and Cozy I think. It seems both require a non folding rops.

To install a cab would one have to remove the folding rops and install a fixed rops?

Do most of these cabs work with the backhoe option? Wondering as I thought the backhoe option required a folding rops.

Just curious...Is this because they use the ROPS to support the cab? In other words, even if you have a folding ROPS it becomes 'non-folding' because it has to stay in the up position to support the cab? Or is there something unique about the non-folding ROPS?

The folding ROPS on my 4310 is higher that the non folding ROPS option in the up position. The pictures of the cabs seem to show the ROPS inside the cab. My guess is the folding ROPS would be too high and that is why the vendor says you need the non folding.

Given that. I would have to replace my ROPS with a non folding for a cab. Not sure what they cost. I seem to recall the non folding height was close to the folding in the folded mode.

If this is all true one might want to consider what ROPS to get when they buy the compact.

Still wonder about a 47 or 48 backhoe option. Would it work with one of these cabs or not? Wondering cause I thought you need the folding ROPS for this options.

Instead of having to buy a non-folding rops you/or a welding shop could cut the height down and reconnect the rops. You could probably make it so it would still fold also, this may be cheaper and quicker than buying a non folding rops.Having recently installed a cab on my machine,I would have to say it is better "inside" than out in the cold stuff /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a 4400. I us a 48 BH. When I sit on the bh my hat is about 4" below the folding rops. Non folding is about 6" shorter your head will show black & blue marks.
The curtis soft side has a removable back for BH use and if I remember right is just goes over the rops. I was looking hard for a cab, I found out a soft side would work any hard side I found did not have removeable rear for BH use, that is one reason I built my cab.

Deere says the folding ROPS is required for BH applications, just so there'd be a few less banged heads...
