My wife and I have been there every year for over 20 years. We were there this past weekend and plan to go back in November. We get there early in the morning and wait for the park ranger to open the gate just after daylight. We stay in until about 1000 or so and then go out Rich Mountain road to Townsend. Then to some other places, get some boiled peanuts, etc. Then we go back late in the afternoon, maybe take some chciken or BBQ to eat and stay until dark. We love it. It is beautiful anytime of the year but especially in the fall. If you like the beauty of the outdoors and wildlife (deer and black bear) it a great place to. There are a lot of people there during the weekend so if possible it is best to go during the week. Cades Cove is the most visited National Park.
