Hi guys,
I read several threads on here and elsewhere about trying to find a replacement for the OEM air filter on my FIL's Cub 7260 without much success. The Cub part, p/n MA-1031051120, is stupid expensive, $121. Wix cross-references this to their p/n 46483, which is NOT the correct replacement because it is missing the metal end cap. Some said that a Wix 46387 was the replacement, but this one, while it has the correct style, metal end cap, and even the plastic "turbo sleeve", is way too short at only 7-3/8". The OEM with the end rubber gasket mashed down after years of use is about 10-1/4" long.
WIX/NAPA had a very close candidate in p/n 46496/FIL 6496, but the price of that was still $65.
By persistent web sleuthing, involving searches and leads and links that I have now forgotten, I arrived at a Donaldson P535362. Only $30.63 from FilterPros.com. This one is ALMOST exact!! The major difference is that the OEM has a LARGE hold down wing-bolt hole of about 5/8" to fit the strange wing bolt (see photo), and the ID is slightly larger than the OEM. But with a bit of step-drilling on the new one for the wing bolt it fits and works perfectly. The plastic "turbo sleeve" can be easily slid off the OEM, cleaned and reinstalled on the new one. It's a tiny bit longer, but I think this is all due to a fresh unsquished rubber gasket.
If you drill and use one of these be very observant for any metal shreds or burrs left inside from the drilling. See last photo - this came from INSIDE where it would have been ingested!!
I have sent Donaldson a message with photos to see if they happen to have anything that would fit exactly with no modification at all and will post back here if they do.
Photos attached that are all self-explanatory.

P.S. FilterPros also had the correct p/n 33264 fuel filters for $5.83 ea versus $15.30 ea from Cub Cadet.
