well as ya know i'm not a aussie but still live downunder .i have been called a aussie cos of the way i talk but it does not offend me like most in the USA ,OZ ,NZ we come from diffrent backgrounds myself i'm french canada with a bit of scotch (?) french,pom etc etc .on here if a kiwi can help a ocker or a yank or other way around who cares where ya live

I found one reliable way to distinguishing the aussie graduate students from the rest. They're the only ones left standing at the end of the keg parties. I just have problems differentiating between some of the accents. Of course I think I sound like Walter Cronkite, though some Puerto Rican students I was teaching claimed they had trouble understanding my strong southern accent. Southern? I'm from east Tennessee.
