North Central and North East Florida has a ton of small and medium lakes, and multiple navigatable rivers. What we don't have a lot of, is public access. The vast majority of small lakes can only be accessed from private property.
Google Earth and take a look at Interlachen FL. It's a low income area, with hundreds and hundreds of small lakes. My understanding, in German, the name means "connected lakes"
