Can’t Sell My Bushhog

Seems like there must be a reasonable market for a 4 footer, or manufacturers wouldn't mess with them.
There is in my area but $200 per foot if pristine, $100 if rough but still usable, is the the typical starting point for negotiations on a basic rotary cutter. That mower would generate some interest at "$800 OBO".

I buy and sell on the Internet almost weekly. When something is priced too high I ignore it because it requires too much movement from the seller to get into the ballpark. Those items sit for months just like in this example.

Anything - mower, tiller, disc, plow, loader, tractor ……. will sell if priced right. Obviously yours isn’t. If it’s used, asking more than 1/2 of new price, good luck.

I haven't read through all the posts here, but there is a Kubota dealer near me that had about 15-20 6' bush hogs. It has taken over two years and he just started to sell some the past couple of months. He must have dropped the price.

48" is a perfect mower for a B series Kubota, or similar size tractor. But if you are asking $1100 for a mower that sells new for $1600, then you are a bit overpriced. I paid $400 for a like new King Kutter 48" mower a couple years ago. In today's market, as several people have posted, $600-$800 would probably be a fair price.

A Craigslist ad costs you $ 0.00/month
My bushhog doesn't eat.
Up on blocks, out of the weather, it'll be as good come spring as it might be tomorrow.
Ever hear the expression "That's why they call it fishing - and not catching?"
Pressure wash it, oil an grease it.
Patience is your girl.
As to the $1,600 vs $1,000: It's $500/ ($1600 * 1.07) = So 29% off 'List' is what you're currently Asking - a pretty steep discount if your piece is in Very Good Condition (and looks so in your pictures).

I had a water heater on C.L for quite some time with nothing happening. Then a guy drove quite a ways to collect it and gave us a $20 tip he was so grateful - his water heater had blown the night before.

So, it might take 'till Spring. Or, if you're in a decent tax bracket - donate it to Habitat and let them sell it for you.

One other thing I've noticed - Facebook Marketplace seems to be surpassing C.L. in my neck of the wood.

Wood working tools come and go quickly. I will not give FB my information so I can only look see - can't contact anyone. The tools do appear to sell.

Then again, the only reason I ever notice them is when a member of the woodworkers group I follow posts an ad in our "Found/Hot Deals" forum list. He must be on their notification list or something.

On CL, you can save a search and CL will notify you every time a 'new' ad meeting your search criteria appears.

So, if you run a search for what you're selling, the results in your mailbox will give you clues about the market for such an item.

You van post in other 'markets' as well. A few years back I sold a component from a satellite dish thing to a someone in California - my ad was posted hear on the East coast!

And he was under some pressure. Likely buys inventory with loans and is making payments every month. Then again, the markups can be significant, so . . .

I’ve been trying to sell my 48 inch rotary cutter in suburban NJ. It’s been on Craigslist and Marketplace for 6 months, not even a bite.

Let's see your ad. I've read several of the same request here, but????

Selling anything depends on finding a buyer. A trip to look at the Titanic would be a hard sale today, no matter what the price is. Same reasons apply to anything else for sale. Finding the buyer or fish who meets "your" conditions can be next to impossible.

It was too large for my x730 (shocker)

Any ideas? My dealer won’t take it.

Thanks all.
