Hello,
A friend recently offered to give me a Massey-Ferguson sickle bar mower that has been sitting in his field for the past few years. I looked at it and it has only surface rust and is in good shape, and It would make a nice addition to my small collection of tractors. However, the only tractor that I have that is of the right size to safely use the implement is a '45 Farmall A, which has no 3-point hitch but rather a solid drawbar. I have seen adapters intended to adapt a 3-point hitch to a trailer but never ones to adapt a drawbar to a 3-point hitch implement, I was wondering if these are even possible to get or if they simply don't exist. The sickle bar mower attaches to the back of the tractor and connects to the PTO, the Farmall has a PTO that would work fine for it. I am not sure what model sickle bar mower it is, but I suspect it is a model 41 or something similar. Is there a way I could attach this mower to a Farmall A without modification to either?

Anything is possible if you are a good fabricator with the proper welding and fabrication skills and a deep enough pocketbook. I believe you can get a 3 point hitch for your tractor commercially, but they aren't cheap.

Or make a trailered 3 point hitch and add a longer pto shaft.

It's what the Amish do and I bet you can purchase a 'Forecart' or whatever they are called in Amish country. Only instead of horses out front you'd have your tractor.

My father made brackets that mount to the drawbar with a hydraulic cylinder to raise and lower on a Farmall M. He then made a 7ft box blade to drag the driveway. So anything is possible if you want it bad enough. I'll see if I can snap a few photos.
