Ballast can antifreeze be used as ballast with or without tube?

Not hard at all if they were off already.

Granted this is not something one would do on a UT or Ag Tractor with tires that are HUNDREDS of pounds....

Quickly scanned this thread for putting weight in tires. Getting a fill tube at TSC and use the safer combo of RV antifreeze and water. Can you tell me if there is any concern about Rim damage? This mixture doesn't rust the rims? Air tire as usual? Anything to watch for? Thanks!

Maybe someone else has answered your question, but I don't care what type of antifreeze you put in a tubeless tire/rim, it will (after 4-5 years) corrode the rim. And I speak from experience. It's not hard to find a tube to fit those rims and if I were inclined to weight the wheels of my garden tractor that is what I'd do.

Fawken Thanks for the reply. These are 12.4-24 Ag Tires, would rather not get tubes. Does WWF corrode rims as well?

Over time anything with water in it will corrode steel. And WWF is mostly water. If I were really in dire need of doing it (as in my life depended on it) I'd take the rims to a powder coater. That's extreme, but the damage to a rim is worse and it can be dangerous as well because the corrosion is happening on the inside out of sight.

I know where there is a tractor that has water and antifreeze in the tires for over 15 years and the wheels are fine

Tubeless? What tractor? How do you know, BTW if they've been on the rim 15 years? As I said, the corrosion is inside, you won't see it

Yes, I would like to know if that is Tubeless Tire as well?
If and when they need to be emptied, is that easy?

Yep there tubeless, I put them on and tractor is used nearly every day. no sign of rust, don't know what difference make of tractor makes but its a ford 4630. very easy to put in. jack up tractor rotate valve to the bottom let air out slip a hose over valve stem pour antifreeze in may have to let it burp a time or two then rotate valve to the top and add water. the trick to rust is keep water above rim

A 4630, eh? Where'd you get tubeless rims for it? That's a pretty big AG type ford that went out of production 17 years ago and was never offered with tubeless tires. BTW, I've had water in my tubes for 30 years and wouldn't go without it, but 10 years ago I had a small leak and let it go for a year and yes I had to repair corrosion and paint the rim around the valve hole. I don't understand why anyone would take the tubes out of a good Ag machine, order special rims, install tubeless valve stems and hope they stay seated under load.

In other words, what were you hoping to gain by going through such a job?
