Outside diameter on a 1/2" R2 hose can vary more than 1/8".....thats definately not with in tolerance on a crimp fitting. When I worked as a temp in a hydraulic shop, I crimped new fittings on an old used1/2" hose, (customer didn't want to give up that 6ft long hose)....he came back a few days later and bought 2 new fittings and 6ft of new hose + crimping. Expensive hose, cheap learning for a stubborn guy....
Another issue is pre-crimped spare hoses....I learned that best warranty on a crimped hose is to put it on duty immediately....The crimp is best fresh I was told by an experienced hose maker.....So do not stock cut to length and crimped spare hoses for a long time....
