Backhoe Can I get my Kubota L48 backhoe to operate like excavator?

Oops, I only read the op's title, not his actual question. Thought that he was talking about lever "pattern's"

I thought the OP was talking about the SAE or ISO pattern of the control lever operations. If that is the question, then the answer is yes. When I bought my used B26 the previous owner was used to running an excavator (ISO configuration) so he set the controls for that response. That is simply done by reversing a couple of the hose. Once when I had my TLB at the shop with directions to check the relief valve pressures the idiots changed the hoses around to SAE configuration or some version of it (I THINK). No matter how I tried to work it, I just couldn't get used to it in that way so I had a long trial and error of swapping back around several hoses to get it back as it used to be. I like it when I pull back on the levers, the boom comes up, the dipper cylinder extends which pulls the hoe toward me, conversely pushing them away from me extends both. The idiot dealer mechanics had it set so that I had to push on the left lever while pulling on the right (or maybe it was vice versa) to bring the bucket toward me which was really stupid and uncoordinated.

Anyway, just remove the cover plate over the control station, observe the levers reaction to which control valve they operate and you can change the hoses to match how you want the controls to operate. You shouldn't have to mess with anything on the left lever, only the right side and only on the valve that operates when you push or pull on the lever. The side to side operations stays the same.

It has 4 hydro pumps. So you were just flat wrong all the way around. I take it from you bringing in an issue about meds from the government that you're having trouble with yours? You should have that looked into. Can't help you with that here.

You had inferred that 3 pumps matter and were therefore implying they mattered. You would first have to infer, before you can imply. Had you not inferred they mattered, and then implied it, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I'm thinking it wouldn't have mattered if he inferred, implied, interned, informed, inverted, impacted, or indented, you still would be having this discussion.

Cheers

I just bought a used kubota L48 TLB and I like it but is there any way I can get the boom and dipper to operate at the same time? Like bring the boom up while pulling the dipper in. Or boom down while putting dipper out.
Thanks all.

Your L48 should be able to make smooth combination movements of the backhoe. There were many reviews of the L48 by owners while it was in production and many of them reported its smooth and powerful operation compared with other smaller TLB's. As previously noted, it ain't no full-sized model or excavator, but it should be pretty darn good for what it is.

Suggest you try easing off the engine rpm's at first to reduce the hydraulic flow some. You should still have plenty of pressure, so your digging power should not be greatly reduced, but movements will be less abrupt and you'll find it easier to get the control sticks to make combination movements. At least that's the way it is on my BH, which is not even in the same league as your L48.

If that doesn't do any good and it's still not letting you make blended movements, there may be something wonky in the control valve cluster... it shouldn't give you problems like that.

I went from a JD 410 backhoe to a L45, so learning how to feather the controls did take several hours but once you get a feel for how far you can move both levers at the same time and still get the movement you desire, it operates pretty darn close to a bigger backhoe just with less power (a full sized backhoe it is not). I have no problem after 100 hours of operation moving both boom and dipper when I am scraping ground, moving debris or just plain digging a hole. One thing that will no work on my L45 is moving both levers to full position at the same time, the one with the least resistance moves first. I really like my L45 for its overall versatility.
