Want to kill grass , weeds, along driveway, in blacktop, along fence lines etc. Also would want to kill grass etc in mulch. I'm worried for shrubs & close by plants like flowers, Do have couple feet and more between plants.

Cheers.....Coffeeman

Glyphosate (generic Roundup) will do the trick. Prices have gone up in the last year or so, but you can buy 2.5 gallons of 41% glyphosate for less than $60. A 1.5% mix requires 2.67 ounces per gallon of water and will knock out your grass and weeds.

You can buy a pump sprayer with a plastic shield at the end of the nozzle to minimize drift while spraying. Hold the nozzle close to the target and don't spray on a windy day.

I'll second gly. It can take a couple of weeks before you start to see the burn down, but it's the cheapest way to go that I know of.

Tractor Supply has pretty decent prices on glyphosate.

I use vinegar with a few drops of detergent in it.

Use glyphosate if you want. Personally I wouldn't touch that stuff. Ever heard the term "endocrine disruptor"?

Glyphosate (Roundup) is probably your best choice. It will only kill green plants that it touches. It has no residual, which means it does not last in the soil. In fact, it is 100% neutralized the instant it touches soil.

You must be careful that you don't get it on any plants that you don't want to kill, but, just keep your nozzle low, don't spray on a windy day, and spray with large droplet size, to avoid drift.

100% neutralized, eh? The instant it touches the soil, huh? A quick Google search doesn't seem to agree with your info, hope you're not just spreading whatever Monsanto chooses to print in its brochures. I don't mean any offense, but for a while they said that stuff was "non-toxic" and had salesmen drinking it.

Maybe I should say "The herbicidal effect of glyphosate is 100% neutralized the instant it touches soil"

I do know however that glyphosate has changed farming tremendously, and has reduced the amount of more toxic herbicide use. And glyphosate has reduced the cost of production of crops which also helps keep consumer costs down.

I also know that the LD50 of table salt is much lower (which means it's more toxic) than glyphosate.
