Can Loader Arms be Straightened?

/ Can Loader Arms be Straightened? #11
I've straightened car frames with my engine lift and/or a couple of supplemental 2x4 box channels. I have both push and pull hydraulic cylinders and a selection of chains and mounting brackets. I was in the body business but didn't have the room for a "frame machine". You would be wise to determine what and where the deformation is before simply trying to tweak the bucket in the opposite direction. You could separate the mounting flanges/pads from the tractor.

I bought a truck years ago for cheap for a play vehicle for the yard. It had hit something that pushed the right front corner of the frame up and slightly back but didn't set off the airbags. What I did was buy a couple landscape timbers and used some chains, a pipe and a20 ton bottle jack to twist it back. In the rear I put one timber sticking out the drivers side with a section of pipe between it and the frame (with some 1/2" steel between the two) and a chain wrapped around the timber and connected to the frame on the P side. At the front of the truck I did the same thing but sticking out the passenger's side and instead of a pipe I put the jack there. I think they were 8"x8"x12'. The wood made a little noise but I was able to twist it back. It took awhile because I was stopping and checking to make sure I didn't go too far. I'm sure you could do the same thing with the loader and some 6x6 timbers.

While it is not hard to bend a loader (easily done by lift from one corner of the bucket) before trying to deal with what you think is a bent loader, you want to eliminate all other things first.
1) do all your checks from the tractor sitting on level surface
2) air up all tires to proper psi
3) check that everything about the tractor is correct a loose axle at any corner could be your issue
4) check the loader mounts to the tractor
5) remove your bucket and with tractor level check the bucket and the loader lift arms

There are probably many other items to add to this list, but a bucket not being level can be from lots of stuff. While a loader can be bent, you should know if you have put a corner of the bucket under extreme abuse.
