GPS can do it in about 5 maybe 6 different fixes.... Should be easy to calculate take a "way point" at each corner, calculate distance from opposing corners waypoints (across the "X") calculate what half the distance between way points are and generate new way point.... Walk to new generated way point, and when GPS says you are at desired location, pound peg in ground at location...

Get distance between opposing way point (property corners) and if it's something like 1320 feet, you start walking the "line" and once GPS states you have gone 660 feet you are halfway along the line which eventually lines will cross from opposing corners and you are there... Pound peg in ground...

I wanted to find a corner marker that was 118 feet from another known corner marker, wandered around for several hours and could not find the marker (a piece of 5/8 rebar pounded into earth)... Went back to house got the GPS and did waypoint at know corner marker and walked through all kinds of brush and over boulders till GPS said I had gone 118 feet, found marker within 2 feet of where GPS said it was, it was buried under layers of leave... No strings, no tape measures no surveyors chains just dodges trees and deer poop... Just the "magic" of the governments billions of dollar satellite system and a $150 hand held....

Find local geocache nut and GPS guru and present problem to him, in 15 minutes or so he will find exact spot probably to within 5 feet if his unit is accurate....

Their are also GPS APPS for your smartphone or tablet and all sorts of GPS APPS that do a whole hoard of calculations.... Get modern, forget all the old measurement crap and pencil and paper...

I like his idea! Get a Geo Cache finder out there. Maybe even a bulldozer operator that can clear by GPS?

When the neighbor was putting up fence, he would run string, pull it tight. Then walk the string. Any tree on the "wrong" side of the string he marked it, or if small removed it. Then he ran another string, this time going on the "right" side of the trees that were moving the string. He did this several times until the string was straight and not moved by any trees.

What tools/equipment do you have available to do the onsite layout? That may determine how you do it!

Thanks but I have the answer I was looking for. I'm going at it with a tape measure and string

Your drawing - post#14- will get you right at an acre. And it will be the same shape as the overall property - only an acre in size.
