Can One Ship High Power Magnets?

Can I ask what you are all doing with these magnets?

I have a friend who works for GE as an MRI service tech. He says you can put a 1/2" wrench (or any small metal object) in the opening of the MRI (while turned off), and it will suck it into the center, and basically be locked in mid air, and unmovable. Crazy stuff.

used small rare earth magnets on our kitchen cupboards to hold the doors shut, reversed one magnet and had SWMBO perplexed for a while

My aunt, now retired, worked at GE in Florence SC where they manufactured MRIs. One day this rich fellow shows up and bought one. When they went to load it they had to place it next to a new Ferrari he had on the truck! So they only agreed by him signing a liability waiver in case it shifted and damaged the car.

Is that something like a new regulation?
I've gotten 3 of these 400lb+ pull magnets over the last 4 years and this last one came with a steel plate the size of the magnet.

New regulation? Don't know. Doubt that it's anything new. A powerful magnet should be shunted when not in use. Safety issue.
