Can someone check my 2,4D math

You can math out how much you are supposed to spray based on tips used and speed but because of inefficiencies and overlap you could wind up using a whle lot more. The narrower the sprayer, the worse the problem. I would guess a 10 ft sprayer would use 25% ? extra, or more. For example. My sprayer is 28 ft and I figure I use 15% more than I should because of unintentional overlap. And mine is only that small amount because I have low flow spray tips and watch my speed carefully. I spray at 15 PSI.

Here's a flow chart

for the tips you probably have. It's the chart I use for my XR8003, which is the most common tip.

Excellent point on the "volatilize" comment post above. Very true and 24D keeps on being a problem long after it's sprayed. I wrote a post on this last year when I learned I had to wait 30 to 90 days after spraying before alfalfa seed would germinate. I had trees still showing stress till the end of the summer.

Here is the label for his product. Original poster you are correct on your dose according to the label.

I'd say try 20 gallons of water instead of 16 to make up for overlap and your 2.5 pint acre rate sprayer set for 12 gal an acre you should do ok

Spraying early in the morning or late evening to avoid wind as much as possible.

I will spray 2-4d(gotta wait for no wind and stay away from trees) but prefer to use Grazon p+d,I guess this year going to have to use GrazonNext. I'll have to do the math if it isnt them same, anyone have an idea?

I took the advice of several people who posted here and calculated my output which came out to 12 gal for the area I was treating and went conservative on my mixture and used 1 Oz per gal. I ended up using 14 gal to treat my area.

I used the boom sprayer for about 3/4 of the area and the wand for the rest. Very pleased with the FIMCO LG40-3PT-12V I picked up at TSC, I could have got away with a trailer setup but I wanted a 3 PT setup to use with my JD 870.

Thanks again for all the great advice.

Nice that you atleast considered doing it as recommended, worst case you can up it alittle if it doesnt get it all this time. Im sure you will need to do several treatments anyways over time.

Just be careful after things start to leaf out.
It really is the "gift" that keeps on giving.
Might want to switch from LV 2,4D to Amine 2,4D after buds open.
