Can someone tell me what this is?

Pic is of the right front of tractor (YM187) The cylinder with the hole in it is the throttle linkage and the tack hooks just above if that helps locate the area I took the pic of.

Anywho, it looks as if this little lever was being held with twisted wire with a round do-hickey on it. you can see the round do-hickey just to the left and up of the lever I'm talking about.

What is it and how do I get it set back to the right place....heck what is the right place? Maybe a governor of some kind?

Is this a diesel? Is it the fuel shutoff for stopping the engine? I'am not an expert but that's what it looks like to me.

Yes it's a diesel.

I was mistaken about the little wire do-hickey holding it that is part of the fast idle speed adjustment.

I can find pictures of it in the manuel but not a discription of what it is? and the pictures I see do not show it hooked to anything....I'm still lost /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Just happened to look at my 1500 today and remembering your post I noted that it has a lever and an adjustment bolt with that little wire and a round thingy. I beleve that is a seal put there to preclude adjustment of the bolt which is on the lever and probably is a limiter on the governor.

And more. Note the phrase "is sealed to indicate adjustment by non qualified personnel." I suspect it's a type.

Thanks for the pic's but I'm still lost, I still don't understand what that lever with the square shaft sticking out of it is. I tend to think you right and it is part of the governor. It swing's back and forth like it's adjustable and the square has a hole in it thats smaller the say a coat hanger wire and I don't have anything in my parts pile that I can recall taking' out of it.

For all I can figure it's been just hanging there like that since I bought it many years ago?

Funny your throttle is located on the back side of your engine and your's doesn't have this other lever, mine is located on the front.....still perplexed
