TYM T474
I'm dealing with new piece of land, and hoping to farm a few acres of it. It's been two years since was corn/soybeans, so has left to weeds. Just mowed them down now (see pic). My new tractor is 47hp TYM HST, and i'm thinking of adding a chisel plow of some sort to prepare the land for planting. Even could be better is an implement that I can use for chisel plowing and cultivating between row for weeds. I'm new to using tractors for this. For a tractor this size, and recommendations of best implement for the job? thank you

Plow and cultivating, closest I can think of is a power harrow if you can find one you can afford and have enough flow for it.

I doubt that you will find one implement to both break the ground up and then cultivate between the rows.

rule of thumb used to be 10 - 15 HP per shank on a chisel plow depending on depth, soil type etc. in your case could also be traction issue since most small tractors today do not have weight to transfer power to the ground effectively.

do you have neighbor that farms that could do the initial ground breaking for you?

How many acres?

Tractor weight is the primary determinant of what the tractor can pull. Your tractor is 500 pounds lighter than my Kubota L3560. My tractor's rear tires are inflated with air. If your tractor's rear tires are filled with liquid and your tractor has 4-WD, you will have enough weight/traction to pull any brand of All Purpose Plow with five shanks:

Even better would be an implement I can use for chisel plowing and cultivating between row for weeds.

Consider DUCKFOOT sweeps.

i'll be only working with 6 acres this next Spring/Summer. Location is MN.

An APP is fine for six acres. Relatively cheap implement for that amount of ground. Best functional reason to use and APP over a moldboard plow, followed by a disc harrow; is anti-erosion and water retention of a conservation plow. You should be able to rip SLIGHTLY MOIST SOIL at least 10" deep with your 4-WD TYM T474 pulling a five-shank APP.

Hands down a pto rototiller.
My new tractor is 47hp TYM HST,

You can easily operate a 72" forward rotation roto-tiller but new acquisition cost will be much higher. You can probably operate an 84" forward rotation roto-tiller but you need to consult on that locally.

Considering your land cultivated an 8 foot cultivator and a diamond harrow should easily meet your needs.

The cultivator should be able to handle narrow chisels or wider sweeps running a less depth.
