We often cut blades with a grinder to make fit different brands in a pinch but got to be careful with flails as it does'nt take much to cause vibration..!
I use a 3" dia radiac cutting wheel that is only .050/.060 thick on a Dotco air grinder.
It cuts by friction so its possible to get the hardened metal hot enough to get brittle if enough carbon is in the metal. If the metal is thick enough this won'y happen.
With a friction blade chop saw it can get really hot.
Do you want to cut or grind. Perhaps this kind of grinding wheel. Green Silicon Carbide Wheels. The trick to grinding all the blades is to grind them equally, and as someone has suggested, if not done correctly, vibration will occur.
Just got back from hunting camp and was pleased to see all the advice I think I might go with the grinder first to see how that goes.
J.J. I'll try and find the blade you said . I think that the amount each one weighs after will matter alot .thanks for all the Info.
Try this company for blades. I picked up their catalog at the sunbelt ag show a week ago. It doesn't list the blades for your mower but it does give detailed measurement of each blade.
I don't think a chop saw is rigid enough, not to mention the manual feed is too easy to overload the blade. If the blades are thin enough a waterjet would be a lower cost alternative to EDM. If the blades are rigid and you have a good machine shop they can use carbide endmills. If you want to do them yourself then grindind is your best shot. The blades are probably low allow and will be easy to overheat and soften.
JD2555 and a few Allis Chalmers and now one Kubota
Best way is to find the right blades. Give this link a look over and see if anything comes closer than what you have. I know the last thing you want to do is to pay for another set, but it might be better in the long run if you can find the right ones.
