Yeah, what I drained out of the tank was a clearish/yellowish mess that was really ugly. There was about a gallon of it. I did flush another 1/2 gallon of fresh gas behind the drain. I hope that takes care of the tank because removing it looks like a bit of a job.
One good thing is the fuel shut-off's had been closed when it was stored. I'm not sure if it was run dry though.
I picked up 15 feet of 1/4" fuel line yesterday. The filters are coming from C&G and should be here Friday. I also picked up a can of Gumout Carb Cleaner, and a can of Seafoam.
This weekend I'm:
1. Replacing all the fuel lines.
2. Replacing the Fuel Filter.
3. Changing the Oil and Oil Filter.
4. Changing the Trans Oil and Filter (I assume there is a drain plug somewhere!)
5. Hitting all the grease fittings.
6. Checking the power steering box adjustment and the front steering bar adjustment (no issues, just getting to a known service state).
Already changed the air/prefilter and plugs and installed a new battery during the initial "Will she run?" stage last Sunday.
I've read that these Kohler Command Engines, regardless of what the manual says, should only have 10w30 oil in them year round. Something to do with the Hydraulic Lifters.
I plan on using Castrol GTX 10w30 year round. Anyone see an issue with that?

Your sister gave that to you, that is quite a sister! What a great tractor. Those were super tough tractors and could handle a whole range of implements. Lucky you. I am sure its a varnish issue with the fuel, 6 years is a long time for gas to sit around unburned.
You got a good one.
